History
Gondor was founded by elendil's two sons, isildur and Anaryan, in 332, the second era, after the fall of Numenor Empire. It is located in the south of Gondor, west of Mordor, and east of Bell Fallas Bay. She is far from jarno, a sister country in the north. The history of the two kingdoms is intertwined, and it is known that both countries are exile countries of the Dengdan people.
Early History
Before the collapse of the Numenor Empire, many Numenors had emigrated to Gondor, where there were also descendants of Eden who were homologous to Numenors, and most of them lived in or near andras. The latitude of Gondor is close to Venice in the real world, and the climate is milder than that of jarno. Some people speculate that before the collapse of Numenor Empire and the arrival of elendil and his two sons in Gondor, a city with a long history, Pelag, appeared in the coastal part of Anduin River in Iliad region.
The Dundanes brought by elendil from Numenor Empire were exiled to Middle-earth. Immigrants from northern jarno accepted elendil's claim to the throne. However, further south of Anduin River, other Numenors who fled after Numenor der untergang refused to recognize elendil's claim to be king.
Because Gondor was founded between the emperor's men and the loyalists brought by elendil, it almost split Gondor, and all the colonies in the south (such as Anba) are still enemies of elendil.
Exiles have built several big cities and castles, and several important big cities and castles have been installed with real knowledge crystals. The city of Anaryan, Minas Yano Minas Anor at sunset (later renamed Minas Tirith, the tower of guards). Isildur's city, near the dark shadow mountains on the border of Mordor, is the rising moon of Minas Ithil, where Bai Shu is planted. Located on both sides of the Anduin River, the star fortress Osgilias, the former capital of Gondor, is the home of the real crystal spar. Furthermore, it is close to anglin Nost Angrenost Osankta Orthanc near Fagon Forest and Aisin River Shoal. Hithaeglir in West Sagle (misty mountain range), and the low valley in the white mountain range loves Garralon Aglarond, which later became known as the Helm deep valley of hussars. The original name of the fortress is Love Garralon, which means "As long as someone guards it, the fortress with flashing doors will never fall". Minas Yano, Osgilias, Minas Ishir, Eisinger, Anuminas, Amunsul watchtower and the tower overlooking Long En Bay all have real knowledge spar.
the capital of gondor was initially established in osgilias, and later moved to minas tirith.
At the end of the second era, Soren returned to Mordor and launched a war against Gondor. He took Minas Ishir and burned Bai Shu. But isildur fled to jarno in the north, and his brother Anaryan defended Gondor. Gondor joined the elves and the last alliance of mankind, and together with other countries, he was determined to fight Sauron. Although the alliance defeated and overthrew Soren, he finally came back in the third era, which troubled Gondor and jarno.
the rise of gondor
due to Sauron's failure, gondor assumed the responsibility of guarding mordor. Elendil and Anaryan were killed in the war, so isildur taught Anaryan's son Melandil to govern the country, handed it over to Gondor for his governance, and then sent the army to the north from Numano Avenue, and went to jarno by himself via Anduin River, directly governing jarno. However, when isildur arrived in Gratton Plain, he was ambushed by orcs. In a crisis, isildur put on the supreme ring and became invisible. But the supreme ring betrayed him, and the supreme ring became bigger and slipped off his finger. isildur was found and shot dead with arrows, and his three sons died. Only three of the 2 soldiers arrived in rivendell. The late dark jungle reinforcements could only stop the orcs from destroying the remains of the dead. Located in rivendell, Valandil, the youngest son of isildur, became the King of Arno. Due to negligence, Valandil never tried to return to the sovereignty of Gondor from his cousin Mei Lan Durso. The two kingdoms are basically divided. But the title of the highest king of the Dengdan people still belongs to Valandil and his successors.
gondor enjoyed peace until the end of the first invasion of the orient in 492, the third era. Later, Gondor conquered many lands on the east bank of Anduin River.
the golden age of gondor
under the rule of four "kings of navigation", gondor's national strength reached its peak, which was called the golden age. Four kings of navigation:
Taranon Farast Tarannon Falastur (reign: 84-913), the first king of navigation, with no children.
anil I e? Rnil I (during his reign: 913-936), nephew of Tafanon Farast.
Seyandir Ciryandil (reign: 936-115).
Hyarmendacil I (Sayahe) Hyarmendacil I (Ciryaher) (during his reign: 115-1149), the last king of navigation.
by 15, the king of gondor had crossed the Silo River and expanded to the west and north of Middle-earth. The territory reaches Anba, the dark haven of Numenor people on the southern coast. In the last great war, Gondor invaded Anba with great glory and strength. Since then, the kingdom of Gondor has often resisted invading foreigners. The wealth, strength, prestige, size and population of the kingdom gradually declined in the following 2 years.
under the powerful king Hyarmendacil I (the king of the 12th century in the third era), the national power of Gondor reached its peak. The boundary of gondor has reached a further level. The territory of the Kingdom extends as far as the Luen Inland Sea in the northeast, to Haladwich in the south, and jarno is bordered by the dark and dense forest in the west.
The wealth of Gondor makes other countries jealous: "Gems are toys for Gondor children." Although Gondor enjoyed centuries of peace, several kings after Hyarmendacil I were greedy for pleasure, and as a result, foreigners took advantage of it.
The decline of Gondor
After Hyarmendacil I, Gondor began to decline (although it was revived several times). In 2, after the third era, three great disasters hit Gondor, which was the primary reason for its decline: the internal strife of the royal family, the great plague, and the invasion of chariot people (Oriental tribes).
infighting among the royals
In the 15th century, a huge civil war named infighting among the royals split the country. At that time, King Eldaka Eldacar's mother was a northerner, so the king had mixed blood. This led all the navies with royal blood to establish the navy commander Casta Mill Castamir as the king (later called usurper Casta Mill). III-III-1432, the royal infighting broke out. In 1437, Eldaka retreated to Osgilias. Soon after, the city fell, Eldaka was overthrown and his eldest son was killed. Eldaka fled north to the kingdom of Romanian.
During the ten years of Casta Mill's reign, he brutally ruled the people. His old fleet paid attention to the coastal areas and ignored the internal provinces. Eldaka returned to the army of his northerners' relatives, and the army of internal provinces such as Annorian joined Eldaka from Gondor.
osgilias was destroyed in this conflict, and the bridge across the Anduin River was broken, and the crystal stone was lost. Eldaka finally returned to the throne, but Casta Mill's son and their followers besieged Perag, the port of Gondor. They finally retreated to Amba, joined the pirates and harassed Gondor for many years until their descendants became extinct.
Great Plague
In the third era, in 1636, the Great Plague invaded Gondor and Bai Shu withered. The plague swept through most of Middle-earth, reaching the hobbits in northern jarno and the shire. Under the plague, Telemnar, King of Gondor, and all his sons died of illness. Only his nephew Tarrondeau acceded to the throne.
King Tarrondeau found Bai Shu saplings, and then moved the capital from Osgilias to Minas Yano. During this period, the population of Gondor decreased greatly, the fortification against Mordor was relaxed, and the fortress was abandoned. At that time, I believed that as long as Halad or Oriental attacked Gondor at this time, she would perish. However, the plague also devastated the enemies of Gondor, and the conditions were not necessarily better than those of Gondor, so there was no way to launch a new offensive.
invasion of chariots and civilians
After the 19th century, a new threat appeared. The invasion of chariots and civilians devastated the land of Gondor and the northerners, and the conflict lasted for a hundred years, completely destroying the remaining national strength of Gondor. In the third era, in 1944, the chariot people defeated the Gondor North Army led by King Ondokh, and King Ondokh and his two sons died in battle. However, the survivors jointly defeated the Gondor South Army led by General anil, and defeated the chariot people in the camping campaign and won.
the royal family lost their heirs
refused to unify
After King Ondokh died in 1944 in the Third Era, Gondor faced an inheritance crisis. Ondokh's son-in-law, Wang Yafan of Yasidon, all claimed the throne of Gondor, because he was a descendant of elendil's son isildur. King Arvedui also invoked the ancient law of Numenor Empire, stating that the oldest or remnant children would become the heirs to the throne. His queen Ferrer (Ondokh's only surviving child) should become the ruling queen in accordance with the law of succession of the eldest son of Numenor's throne. However, this request was unanimously rejected by the Prime Minister Perando of Gondor and the Grand Council of Gondor, because they said that isildur handed over the inheritance of Gondor to Anna Ryan's family, and the isildur family had lost the inheritance of Gondor's throne. What's more, Gondor was in troubled times, and sending a woman who did not understand military affairs as the queen would only lead Gondor to extinction.
Gondor was finally succeeded by the victorious general anil, who was anil II, the fifth generation descendant of King Tramete Ambadahir of Gondor, the nephew of King Ondokh. This decision points out two important precedents, which will affect the future Gondor law: first, the successor of isildur cannot become the King of Gondor; Second, only the oldest or residual male descendants of the Anarian family can ascend to the throne.
As anil II defeated the chariot people and was the fifth generation descendant of Trumette Ambadahir, many people supported him as the legitimate king. So Arvedui changed his strategy and claimed the throne as the successor of elendil. In fact, isildur is indeed the eldest son of elendil. Gondor never replied to this request. The descendants of Arvedui have not forgotten that Gondor has not answered whether it is legal to claim the throne as the heir of elendil.
The Last King
III-In 1974, the northern city of Assidun fell, the capital of Vernost fell, and King Arvedui fled to the Ice Bay. In 1975, Erno led a large army to land on the shore of Grey Harbor, and the Dengdan people, Linton elves and a few elves from rivendell took part in the Battle of Voronost. The King of Angma Witch was defeated, and Erno, the only son of anil II, led the army of Gondor to defeat the King of Angma Witch, who was actually the leader of the nazgul. Although Mr Anul wanted to fight him alone, Mr Anul's horse fled for fear. By the time he got the horse back and returned, the witch king Angma had already escaped. Elf Lord Grofindale warned Mr. Anul not to chase him, and predicted: "His end has not yet come, and he will not die at the hands of people." (Grofindale's prophecy actually refers to a man, but at that time, everyone thought that this prophecy was interpreted as that human beings could not kill the witch king of Angmar, and as a result, people didn't know that the person referred to was a man until éowyn killed the witch king)
Erno later succeeded to the throne and ruled Gondor in Minas Yano. III-III-22, the nazgul captured Minas Ishir, the sister city of Minas Yano, and challenged it by changing its name to Erno, mocking him for fleeing out of cowardice during the Battle of Voronost. So the angry Erno took a small group of knights into minas morgul and accepted the challenge. In the end, there was no news of them.
Due to the infighting among the royal families in Gondor, the royal family has been greatly reduced. Many relatives of the royal family have either abandoned their Numenor lineage and married foreigners, or fled into exile in Amba and become traitors. After Erno, who had no children, disappeared, he could never find an heir with pure blood. The rule of Prime Minister Gondor finally made no one eligible to be the legal heir. Prime Minister Gondor was afraid that if a king who was not supported by the Danes was established, another civil war would destroy Gondor.
Prime Minister
Prime Minister Regent
After Erno, the son of anil II, disappeared, Prime Minister Gondor could not find an heir with pure Numano descent, and there was no proof that Anul had died, and Gondor could not bear another civil war similar to "royal infighting", so Prime Minister Gondor announced that he would act as an agent for state affairs. The Anarian family was extinct, and the winged crown of the Southern Kingdom was placed in the tomb of anil II until the king returned.
every new prime minister will take an oath when he ascended the throne: "Hold the scepter and act as the agent in the name of the emperor until the king returns." Several prime ministers in the early days took this oath seriously. If the king really returns, the prime minister will finish the task of guitar. But the king never came back, and the oath became a tradition of virtual response to history, and the prime minister completely held the power of the king.
Although the people of Gondor remember that Gondor has not answered Arvedui's request, jarno has already died, and all the isildur families in this period are hidden in Iliad. The prime minister ignored the existence of the northern royal family, but only concentrated on playing the role of ruler without the name of king, but with the reality of king. During the Lord of the Rings Jihad, the prime minister of Gondor was Denethor Ⅱ, and his two sons were Boromir and faramir.
Sirian and Io
In the third era of 251, during the reign of Sirian, the prime minister of Gondor, the country faced a great danger: one of the savage tribes of the Orientals invaded Gondor. The retreat of Gondor's army to Minas Tirith was cut off and forced to retreat into the direction of Yinguang River.
Xi 'an sent a messenger to the hussars tribe in the north of Anduin River for help, but no one felt that the messenger would reach the destination alive. When the troops of Gondor were almost defeated, the hussars arrived in time and won the battle in Keller Brandt Plain. Sirian thanked the hussars for their help, and decided to award the Calanna macro north of the White Mountains to the hussars. Since then, a title of generals in ancient times has established the Lohan State on the boundary of Kellerbrandt Plain, Misty Mountains, Fagong Forest, Yinguang River, Anduin River, West Eminmore and the southern end of Molin Creek, and the title of title of generals in ancient times, Younger Eo, became the first king of Lohan State. Sirian and Iraq vowed to establish a permanent alliance.
Belem and Saruman
The third era is 2758. At this time, Belem, the prime minister of Gondor, was in power. Gondor and Luohan faced a new crisis, and pirates from Anba and Halad attacked the coast of Gondor. At the same time, Luohan was attacked by orientals and Denglanders, and King Luohan's Helmet Hammer was forced to retreat into Horn Castle.
Both countries are busy with their own affairs. From November 2758 to March 2759, it was a famous long winter in history, and the cold lasted for five months. Gondor, Lohan and their enemies were badly hurt in the long winter, and the King Helmet froze to death. After the long winter, the snow melted into a flood and drowned the enemy. The troops of Gondor repelled the enemy and then rushed to Los Angeles.
