As we all know, Taoism has eight immortals representing men, women, old, young, rich, noble, poor and humble. There is also a famous saying among the people that "the eight immortals cross the sea, each showing his magical powers". Among the Eight Immortals, Lu Dongbin may not be ranked high, but he is definitely the most well-known. The proverb "A dog biting Lu Dongbin will not recognize a good heart" is enough to explain the problem.
And this "Pure Yangzi" Lu Dongbin has a deep connection with Wei Hui, because it was here that he became a saint and became an immortal.
The place where Lu Dongbin transcended mortal life and became a saint is called Baiyun Pavilion, which is locally called Lu Zu Pavilion. It is a group of ancient buildings that were first built in the Tang Dynasty and reached their peak in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. They have been repaired many times. Now we see The Baiyun Pavilion we visited was rebuilt by Tian Qingzeng, the prefect of the Qing Dynasty in the 22nd year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1684). Therefore, there is a stone tablet in front of the gate of Baiyun Pavilion, which says "嵵 (dang four tones) was founded by Mr. Haitian alone".
Who is this Tian Qingzeng? Why build a temple for Lu Zu? According to his own statement to the Taoist priest in the pavilion: It is said that this magistrate Tian was from Changle, Shandong. When he was a child, he liked to listen to plays and often didn't want to leave after the plays were over. Once after watching a play, he would sit on the stage and be lost in thought. Lu Zu suddenly appeared. Come up and ask him if he still wants to see it? Oda Qingzeng nodded, so Lu Zu said, close your eyes and grab my sleeve. A sudden cloud and mist came to Wei Hui to attend the show, and after watching, he was sent back. Therefore, when Magistrate Tian came to Baiyun Pavilion for the first time, he pointed to the stage outside and said that I came here to watch a play when I was a child! No one can stop me. I want to donate money to build the temple!
Then others must be surprised, saying that Lu Zu’s Eight Immortals are usually so busy, how could they find time to take you to the theater? Are you two acquaintances? As everyone knows, these two are really acquaintances. Because there is also a stone tablet on the other side of the mountain gate, on which is a poem written by Lu Zu: Five hundred years ago, we were old friends, and today Weiyuan began to leak secrets. I am willing to donate half a million of my own money to the eternal inscription in Baiyun Pavilion. The crane-haired boy's face increases his longevity, and the osmanthus orchid's grandson is even more amazing. Bing and Ding traveled south with four carriages, and Geng and Xin came with eight carriages.
Most of this poem wishes good friends a bright future, but its biggest role is to explain that Lu Dongbin had an old acquaintance from five hundred years ago. This Tian Zhifu should be the reincarnation of Lu Zu's friend.
Not only that, it is said that a couplet on the mountain gate was also written by Lu Zu: There is no lamp in the ancient temple and the moon shines, and the mountain gate is not locked until the clouds cover it. Horizontal comment: The fairyland outside the clouds. If you look carefully, you can see that the word "jie" looks like "feng", but the three horizontal strokes have become three strokes. Lu Zu did not create it himself. There is indeed such a way of writing, and it is in the Kangxi dictionary.
Once you enter the mountain gate, those who understand traditional Chinese medicine will find that the trees, grass, etc. planted in the yard all have medicinal value. According to the Taoist priest in the pavilion, according to the decree of Lu Zu, he has been providing free medical treatment to his neighbors for a long time. When you need to take medicine, you don’t even need to go out, you can just grab it in the yard, which is convenient.
Entering from the mountain gate, there are a series of buildings such as the worship hall, main hall, side hall, and Tuofan cave. It is worth mentioning that there are six side halls next to it. It is said that Xu Shichang, who was the president of the Republic of China at the time (also from Wei Hui, I will talk about it separately later), admired Lu Zu very much. When he came to pay homage, he couldn't help but said: If only he could It would be great if all the Eight Immortals could come here. Later, it was a coincidence, and the result is that the other six of the Eight Immortals are now enshrined in the six side halls next to it.
But these six, plus Lu Zu enshrined in the main hall, aren’t these the Seven Immortals? When Mingchao went there for the first time, he was confused because of this question and was too embarrassed to ask. Later I learned that Lu Dongbin’s master Zhongli Quan (Han Zhongli) was enshrined on the second floor of Tuofan Cave. Tuofan Cave is the cave where Lu Zu escaped from the mortal world and ascended to immortality. On the first floor, there are two statues of Lu Dongbin (one jade statue and one photo. It is said that the photo was taken by a local photographer looking at the sky before liberation. ); the second floor is dedicated to Zhongli Quan; the third floor is dedicated to the Taoist founder, Taishang Laojun.
The Lu Zuge Temple Fair has been prosperous for hundreds of years. On every birthday of Lu Zu, there is an endless stream of people offering incense, drawing lots and asking for divination. With the popularization of tourism culture, more and more cultural enthusiasts have come to this place to view the scenic spots. The couplets written by Xu Shichang, the Republic of China president in front of the main hall are particularly popular: Seeing through the world of mortals and cultivating for thousands of years are called gods and immortals, Handan Huangliang A dream means that in forty years there will be nothing but wealth and honor. Not only does it have a profound artistic conception, but it also quotes the well-known allusion of Huang Liang Yimeng, but here the protagonist is changed to Lu Dongbin meeting Zhong Liquan.
Baiyun Pavilion is a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit. In recent years, the stele gallery of generals of the Republic of China and the Republic of China, the stele gallery of 100 works of Central Plains calligraphers and painters, and the stele gallery of 100 famous calligraphers and painters in Taiwan, built by the famous painter Li Fuxin, are in harmony with the old remains of the scenic spot. The ancient characters and stone carvings that have not been deciphered to this day are like the collision of ancient and modern cultural ideas spanning thousands of years. We can't help but think about people when we see things, and spontaneously have the fairyland dream that we yearn for.
Mingchao, a cultural worker, is an older young man who loves history and culture. My thoughts are a little erratic and my heart is a little funny. I want to keep the good things left by my ancestors in my heart, and I want to spread the good places of my hometown to the outside world. We hope to get more people interested in history and culture. We also welcome criticism and corrections from experts from all walks of life. Please pay attention and communicate with us.
