1. There are three aspects of reading, namely, understanding with the heart, understanding with the eyes, and understanding with the mouth. Author, Zhu Xi. If your mind is not on the book, then your eyes will not read carefully. Since your mind is not focused, you can only read casually and never remember it. Even if you remember it, it will not last long. Among the three, the heart is the most important.
2. From Zhu Xi's "Xun Xue Zhai Gui" of the Southern Song Dynasty: When reading, you need to read every word loudly and not to miss it. One word cannot be missing. One word cannot be missing. One word cannot be added. One word cannot be reversed. One word cannot be far-fetched. Memorize only more. If you recite it several times, it will naturally become catchy and you won’t forget it for a long time. The ancients said that if you read a book a thousand times, you will see its meaning. If you are familiar with it, you will know its meaning without waiting for explanation. I have always said that there are three aspects of reading, namely, understanding with the heart, understanding with the eyes, and understanding with the mouth. If the mind is not here, the eyes will not look carefully. If the mind is not focused, it will wander and recite. It will never be memorized and it will not last long. The center of the three arrivals is the most urgent. Now that the heart is there, why don't the eyes and mouth not care?
3. Zhu Xi was a great Neo-Confucian master in the Southern Song Dynasty and a famous educator. He spent most of his life reading and teaching and provided many insightful insights. Shortly after his death, his disciples summarized his reading experience into six items, called Zhu Xi's method of reading, which still has the function of enlightenment and reference for today's people.
