Pirated entrepreneurial spirit
After Steve Jobs founded Apple, he hung a pirate flag in his office. At that time, every new employee received a T-shirt that read "Be a pirate, not a navy", and Apple formed a unique pirate culture: "Being a pirate is more interesting than joining the navy." Kai-fu Lee also mentioned that Jobs hung a huge pirate flag on the roof of his office building to announce to the world: I am different.
The word piracy literally means a maritime thief, and it is an illegal robbery of other people's wealth, which has its own negative legal and moral evaluation. Most of our elements about "pirates" come from1A General History of Pirates published in Britain in 724. From the17th century to the early18th century, the Caribbean Sea was the region with the most frequent piracy activities in the world.
Since Columbus discovered America, the American continent has become a paradise for European adventurers. There is a very special political and legal background behind this historical fact. Bandits can dominate, but it is hard to be "great". People who pursue freedom and fairness will constantly challenge the authority of bullies. The "pirate spirit" in film, literature, enterprise and Internet culture has a spiritual extension different from the literal meaning.
It has become the pursuit and yearning for a free and adventurous life. It is not encouraging people to burn, kill and plunder, but a symbol of adventure, innovation, freedom, pursuit of dreams, perseverance and independence. Pirates of the Caribbean interprets this spirit from an artistic point of view: not to succumb to an unfair, money-oriented, corrupt and degenerate society, to resist evil forces, to always confront unfair environment and to always pursue freedom. Just like tom sawyer, rebellion and adventure are all due to the freedom in his heart.
