The Folk Custom of Ku Mu Zi
Kirgiz is one of the ancient ethnic groups in China. The industrious and brave Kirgiz people mainly live in southwest Xinjiang. According to the documents of Qing dynasty, it has a history of more than 2000 years. In the Qing Dynasty, it was called "bulut", which means alpine residents. The Kirgiz people who are good at singing and dancing have created a rich and colorful music culture. Besides playing the stringed instrument Kumuzi, there is Kiyak, a stringed instrument, the eagle bone flute, the iron spring, the gong and the cymbal. Every festival, herders and folk musicians will get together and hold a lively Ku Mu Zi performance competition, which is compared with exquisite playing skills, beautiful playing melody and novel music creation.
