The couplet "No one is a passer-by, the flower is the owner" is from the Army General Zhang Fang of the Republic of China. It is now in Zhang Fang's study room in Qiantang Zhizhai, Xin'an County. His study room is called "Listening to Incense and Reading Paintings" room".
Qiantang Zhizhai is the only epitaph museum in my country and a treasure house of epigraphy and calligraphy art. Reflecting the gate, there is a stone house "surrounded" by vines. This is Zhang Fang's study. It was built in 1918 and has gone through hundreds of years of ups and downs. "No one is a passer-by, flowers are the masters" are eight crude characters engraved on the left and right walls of the front wall of the library.
It means that life is fleeting for decades, like a white horse passing by, like a wisp of smoke, but the flowers, grass, sand and stones are the same as before. Who do you think is the master? Although the number of words in this couplet is small, the connotation is very rich. The word "passer" in the first couplet is a metaphor for "time", and the word "flower" in the second couplet is a metaphor for "space". The author starts from time and space and uses only eight words to bring out the sense of vicissitudes of life.
