Kuai Che (to avoid the taboo of Liu Che, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, and known as Kuai Tong in the Han Dynasty) once advised Han Xin to stand on his own feet and divide the world with Liu Bang and Xiang Yu, and then accumulate strength to weaken Chu and Han and become the overlord of the princes.
1. Han Xin pacified Qi
In the third year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (204 BC), Han Xin pacified the land of Yan and Zhao and led his army to attack Qi. Liu Bang was worried that Han Xin had made too much contribution and would be unable to control himself in the future, so he sent Li Shiqi to lobby the King of Qi. Li Shiqi arrived in Qi and successfully persuaded Qi King Tian Guang to surrender to the Han Dynasty. Han Xin heard that Qi had surrendered to the King of Han and wanted to withdraw his troops, but Kuai Che persuaded him: "It took the general with tens of thousands of troops for more than a year to pacify Zhao, but Li Shiqi used his impeccable tongue to make him More than 70 cities in Qi surrendered to the King of Han easily. The general worked hard for the King of Han for several years, but in the end he was not as good as a Confucian scholar?" Han Xin obeyed, so he led his army to attack Qi and destroyed King Tian Guang of Qi.
In the fourth year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (203 BC), after Han Xin pacified Qi, he saw that the land was fertile and the population was large. He wanted to make Qi his fiefdom, so he asked Liu Bang for the title of acting King of Qi. Liu Bang was furious, but under Zhang Liang's persuasion, he agreed to Han Xin's request and made him King of Qi. Xiang Yu saw that Han Xin occupied the entire territory and was powerful, so he sent people to persuade Han Xin to stand on his own feet and divide the world with Chu and Han. Han Xin believed that Liu Bang had been kind to him and he could not betray Liu Bang, so he did not agree.
Second, Kuai Che made suggestions
Seeing that Han Xin was unwilling to stand on his own, Kuai Che lobbied Han Xin and said: "If the general is under Liu Bang, he can only live under someone else's fence, and his life will be in danger. If Based on Qi and independent of Liu Bang, one can definitely become the overlord of one side. There are three major forces in the world today: Qi, Chu, and Han. If the general breaks away from Liu Bang, uses Qi as his base, seizes Yan and Zhao, and works hard, he will definitely be stronger in the future. Chu Han, then Chu Han will definitely surrender to the general, and that general will be the overlord of the world." Han Xin heard that Liu Bang was very kind to him, so he did not agree.
Kuaiche then advised Han Xin: "The general uses troops like a god. If you help Liu Bang, the world will belong to Liu Bang. If you help Xiang Yu, the world will belong to Xiang Yu. If you stand on your own and take the opportunity to suppress Chu and Han, the world will belong to Xiang Yu." It's yours. Liu Bang is just a small favor to you. You want to do big things, how can you be a woman?" After hearing this, Han Xin insisted that Liu Bang would let him own Qidi for a long time and refused.
Third, Han Xin was killed
In the fifth year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (202 BC), Liu Bang eliminated Xiang Yu and unified the world. He was worried that Han Xin would be harmful to him, so he arrested Han Xin and demoted him to the rank of Marquis of Huaiyin. Han Xin was put under house arrest in Chang'an by Liu Bang until he was killed. In the tenth year of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (197 BC), Chen Xi rebelled and Liu Bang went to conquer it. Someone reported to Empress Lu that Han Xin and Chen Xi were co-conspirators and wanted to rebel, so Empress Lu conspired with Xiao He to kill Han Xin. When Han Xin died, he was very angry and regretful. He hated himself for not following Kuai Che's suggestion to divide the world into three parts. With Han Xin's outstanding talents, if he followed Kuai Che's words and divided the world among Qi, Chu and Han first, and then looked for opportunities to eliminate Chu and Han, the world would most likely belong to Han Xin.
