"The Deer and the Cauldron II: The Dragon Cult" follows the previous episode where the fake queen mother sneaked into the palace to seize the throne and escaped after her plan failed. She returned to the Shenlong Temple to plead guilty to the leader. Later, the leader revealed that her time was running out and ordered the fake queen mother to appear and transform back into the Dragon Emperor to take over the position of the leader of the Dragon God and assist Pingxi King Wu Sangui in ascending the throne.
