Why do we study a lot of knowledge so hard, but it is worthless?
Recently, I had an in-depth exchange with two friends, one is the younger brother who is anxious about knowledge, and the other is the predecessor of Zhihu Da V.

This is the third time I have talked to my friend Xiao Ge for more than 2 hours. His new problem is coming: he has subscribed to more than 20 knowledge-paid columns and is getting more and more anxious. Actually, there is no need to describe it in detail. Everyone will understand that it is a very common patient with knowledge anxiety.

The other is a senior of Zhihu Da V, and I look for him to study and listen to his growing experience. He used to be a scum, but he was still a scum when he first entered the workplace. A year later, he suddenly woke up and began his own transformation.

He only did five things:

1. The first thing he did was to practice his "meta-skills" deliberately. What is meta-skill? In fact, it's just some soft skills besides professional skills, such as communication skills and management skills. In short, the improvement of these meta-skills can make other skills more efficient. He began to practice two soft skills: time management and knowledge management.

2. Find 10 classic books about knowledge management, read them carefully and take very detailed notes.

He shared his notes with a circle of friends, which was praised by many friends and received positive feedback. He is full of confidence and continues to learn more books on knowledge management.

4. I shared my knowledge and ideas in Weibo and Zhihu, and gained many fans, especially in Zhihu, where I was certified as an excellent respondent in time management.

After two years' accumulation, I naturally created my own time management and knowledge management courses, and relied on my fans to realize the big sale of the courses.

The difference between Xiao Ge and Zhihu Da V lies in their different degrees of clarity about "goals".

On the contrary, many of us have no "goals" in our studies, including my first cousin.

I asked my cousin to make a three-year college plan, but he couldn't do it. I understand, after all, he just entered the university. So I can only teach him how to find a university plan recognized by mainstream values in the whole society. These contents generally come from some workplace supervisors or big coffees. I dare not say that it is 100% correct, at least half of it is correct, at least much better than my cousin's mind is blank.

The purpose of letting him learn such articles is to promote his thinking, to plan his college life step by step, and to make him grow up in college besides playing.

As a result, the answer he gave me was: it is better to believe in books than not to believe in them, and it is useless to plan perfectly. Step by step.

I'm speechless. I saw a naive college student showing off his famous words. As the saying goes, "it is better to believe in books than to have no books." In fact, it is also troubled by this famous saying, which shows that it is questioning the authority of teachers and bosses and doing self-righteous things in a self-righteous way.

There are differences and similarities between my brother's behavior and my cousin's. The similarity is that neither of them has a clear direction and goal. The difference is that the younger brother is also working without goals. Cousin bumped aimlessly like a headless fly, trying to find his way in the chaos.

For the younger brother, in today's information explosion, only by "systematizing" his knowledge can he use it. That is to say, with a goal, he will learn according to the "theme learning method".

For college students like my cousin, it is important to find a recognized university plan to act, such as English learning, ppt learning, logical expression ability and so on.

There are many abilities that every college student must cultivate, so we should believe in authority, take action first, and gradually improve and find new directions in action and change, instead of looking for directions everywhere like headless flies at first, staying in the search at last, never taking action, or taking too many detours.

I don't want to discuss the problem of "knowledge anxiety" today. I'd like to discuss the "theme learning method" with you to systematize my knowledge.

Chen Huawei of Bear summed up his theme research template in the answering community. I also practiced for more than a month, and the effect was great. Let's share it and study together.

1, fragmented information, mainly information from the network;

2. Reading on the same topic is a systematic book;

3, case studies, cases are also particularly important, Feynman particularly stressed the need for living concrete examples, rather than rigid definitions;

4, experts, that is, we must use people, many people are particularly high-quality sources of information, which is why our circle of friends, WeChat group, homecoming and so on. It is also a channel for you to accumulate information.

Then your next study should have a direction, even if your usual study is piecemeal, you will have a goal.

You don't see what you see, just like the information flow in today's headlines. You see what the algorithm recommends to you, but you consciously look for content related to the theme and then concentrate on deep learning.

The first thing may be to search the official WeChat account or Zhihu for well-known bloggers in related fields and collect their articles in one place. I recommend Evernote. You can set up a special PPT notebook group, and then use "fragmented information" to build a notebook. The contents in this notebook may be official WeChat account articles, Zhihu answers, Baidu searches, videos, etc. Anyway, it's all about PPT.

The second thing is to set up another evernote notebook "Theme Reading", which mainly stores materials and books about PPT. It is very necessary to concentrate on high-intensity theme reading, so how to choose which book specifically? My personal practice is to go to Douban to read book reviews, which is relatively reliable and less commercial. Basically, if the Douban book review exceeds 8 points, you can rest assured.

In choosing paper books and e-books, I suggest choosing e-books. The reason for this is the following:

1, with fast reading speed, convenient marking and portability, meets the needs of fragmented time reading and does not occupy space, which is equivalent to carrying tens of thousands of books with you.

2. It is very important to be able to search in full text. The disadvantage of paper books is that they cannot be searched. When you use the knowledge in the book, it is very inconvenient to turn over the book. E-books can be searched, and a keyword can find the original text. You can put the PDF version of the e-book in Evernote's theme reading notebook and retrieve it at any time.

3. It is convenient to quote and copy.

Small details of book selection:

1, when choosing a book, you must look at the table of contents, through which you can roughly know whether it is related to your own theme reading.

2. Whether the author and publishing house of this book are authoritative enough.

The third thing is cases, other people's actual cases and their own actual cases. Through case studies, we can learn all the experiences of others' lives and avoid ourselves.

The fourth thing is to use outstanding people in the industry, which I have a deep understanding of. If you are in a circle, you will be very keen on the information of the whole industry. If you make friends with outstanding people in the industry, their complete knowledge system will make your knowledge system more and more complete.

In fact, knowledge will not be anxious, but many people do not systematize knowledge. Knowledge is scattered, so knowledge is like Mao Mao rain without power. Once the system is formed, it is like gathering into a powerful torrent.

Recently, my research topic is the advanced usage of evernote. I use the theme-based learning method, and the effect is very obvious. Moreover, I started practicing in March this year, and I have skillfully combined todo list, pomodoro technique, GTD and evernote. Welcome to discuss with me ~
