When Fan Zhongyan was young, he studied in a temple. He cooked a pot of porridge every day, divided it into four portions, and ate one piece for each portion. He lived such a poor life.

Later, Fan Zhongyan became rich and became the prime minister. The number of people per person was less than 10,000, but he still maintained his previous life of a poor scholar with little change.

Once I bought a house to live in Suzhou, and a Feng Shui teacher praised the house. If the feng shui is excellent, future generations will surely come forward.

Fan Zhongyan thought that since the feng shui of this house can make future generations noble, it is better to turn it into a school and let the children of Suzhou City attend school. In the future, all children can become dignitaries. Wouldn't it be more advantageous than our own children? So I immediately donated my house and converted it into a school, fulfilling my old wish to care about the interests of all sentient beings when I was poor.

When he had a large income, he thought of many poor people and gave his income to those poor people.

Looking at his biography, we know that he supported more than 300 people.

One person's income supports more than 300 families, so you know that more than 300 families can only make ends meet, and they all live a very poor life. If he had money, how could he support more than 300 families? This is one of our great saints in China.

Soon, Fan Zhongyan’s four sons all grew up. They were all smart and possessed both political integrity and talent. They are officials of the Prime Minister, Ministers and Assistant Ministers. The great-grandsons of the Fan family are all high-ranking officials, and this has lasted for eight hundred years. Fan's descendants still thrive in Suzhou.

Fan Zhongyan is willing to sacrifice his own interests for the well-being of others with kindness, and his merits are immeasurable. The blessings God returns to his descendants are dozens or even hundreds of times what Fan Zhongyan paid at that time.

This is because Fan Zhongyao had selfish interests and sowed unexpected good seeds. They have continued to bear fruit for 800 years, inadvertently benefiting future generations, becoming a model of good deeds, and being respected and praised by the world. .

Cultivating the virtue of immortality is guaranteed by the descendants of immortality. Fan Zhongyan is an example.
