This great translation work depends on a British scholar, Wycliffe, who, together with his student Hu Si, is called the morning star of the Reformed Movement. ) John Wycliffe (John Wycliffe 133-1384) In 1376, he opposed the wealth of the church and the power of the Pope, because the church was too close to those in power, regardless of politics and religion, and had a good life, and the degree of church corruption was beyond imagination. Many rules and regulations made by the Pope are not in line with the teaching of the Bible. Everything should return to the Bible and take the Bible as the criterion of faith life. Wycliffe advocated that the churches of all countries should belong to their own kings, and the Pope had no right to levy taxes on the kings, and suggested that the kings confiscate the land of the churches and establish national churches free from the control of the Holy See. He denied that priests had the right to forgive sins and demanded that church etiquette be simplified. Therefore, he was condemned five times by the then Pope Gregory XI and wanted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. In 1377, he was sent to the Bishop of London for trial. Because of the protection of Prince John and other nobles, this trial was aborted. In the same year, the Pope issued five orders to arrest him, but he was safe and sound because he was protected by powerful people in the DPRK and supported by public opinion in the opposition. In 1381, the king of England and the church suppressed the peasant uprising, and Wycliffe was forced to write in seclusion, translate the Bible into English, and complete the theological work "Dialogue of Three People". He advocated that the authority of the Bible is higher than that of the church, and that believers should obey Christ rather than the church. He died in Leicestershire in 1384. Thirty years later, his works were destroyed by the church. The Wycliffe Translation Society
Wycliffe Translation Society is an organization specializing in the translation of the Bible, because Wycliffe presided over the translation of the "Wu Jia Translation" (Latin Bible) into English. In fact, there are still some ethnic groups in the world who don't have a Bible in their own language, so some people translate it into their own language, so that those less civilized ethnic groups can read the Bible and be saved. Now the Bible has been translated into more than 2, languages, so only a few nationalities are left, which the evangelists have not gone to. In 1934, Tang Shengde and Liddell saw this vision, so they began to set up Wycliffe Camp in Arkansas, USA, to provide a variety of daily language training for missionaries who preached in land reclamation. In 1935, he began to work among Mexican tribes, and in 1942, he decided to set up a formal organization, taking Wycliffe as the name of the organization to commemorate it and show their purpose. Summer Speech Training College
One is "Summer Speech Training College", which represents scientific speech and culture without any faction, makes contracts with the government, and guides field work. It cooperates with national universities to hold summer speech demonstrations and teach students, most of whom are missionaries or candidates for missionaries. Another group is the Wycliffe Translation Society, which represents the religious aspect to explain this kind of work to the church in order to get financial support. The qualifications of candidates for Summer Speech Training Institute are recognized by Wycliffe Translation Institute. In addition, an organization, namely JUNGLE AVIATION AND RADIO SERVICE, provides them with transportation and communication services. Since 1944, this work has become universal, with more than 1,8 formal employees.
