Tao Yuanming's epitaph
Today, Tao Yuanming's tomb is well preserved. The tombstone consists of three stone tablets, one big and two small. In the middle of the regular script is the tomb of Mr. Jingjie, a local Taogong. The epitaph is engraved on the left and the word "Qu Ci" is engraved on the right, which was established by the descendants of Taogong in the first year of Qing Qianlong.

The inscription on this epitaph is only a dozen words about Taogongqian Cemetery, and the age is not clear. There is no other word to record the life of the owner. If this tombstone was made by Tao Qian's descendants, it should be engraved with an inscription on the deeds of Tao Qian. However, this tombstone is extremely crude, which really does not conform to the practice of setting up a monument for ancestors in later generations. We think this confirms Tao Qian's request for a simple funeral before his death.
