Kumarashi was an eminent monk, national teacher, and great translator of the Later Qin Dynasty.

In 413 AD, Kumarajiva, who sensed that his end was approaching, swore to everyone: "If there are no errors in the scriptures I preached, after I burn my body, let this tongue not be burned out. Rotten!" Soon after, Kumarajiva passed away and his body was burned according to the Buddha's ritual in Xiaoyao Palace. After the fire destroyed his body, only his tongue remained intact.

Kumarashi translated the "Middle Theory", "Hundred Theory", "Twelve Doors", "Prajna Sutra", "Lotus Sutra", "Great Wisdom", "Vimalakirti" Sutra", "Hua Shu Sutra", "Chengshi Lun", "Amitabha Sutra", "Infinite Life Sutra", "First Surangama Samadhi Sutra", "Ten Abode Sutra", "Zazen Samadhi Sutra", "Maitreya Buddha Sutra" ", "Maitreya Sutra", "Ten Chanting Vinaya", "Ten Chanting Precepts", "Bodhisattva's Precepts", Buddha's Collection, Bodhisattva's Collection, etc. Regarding the total number of translations, according to the second volume of "The Collection of Tripitaka", there are thirty-five volumes and 297 volumes; according to the fourth volume of "Kaiyuan Lu", there are seventy-four volumes and thirty-eight volumes. Four volumes.
