Translation: alas! Fate is bad and the road is difficult. Feng Tang is easy to get old, but Li Guang is difficult to seal Hou. Jia Yi was demoted to Changsha without a wise king: Isn't Hongliang living in seclusion by the sea in an era of political prosperity? It's just a sign that a gentleman can perceive things, and a wise man knows his destiny.

Creation background

During the reign of Emperor Gaozong, Yan Mou, the governor of Hongzhou, rebuilt the pavilion, and hosted a banquet in Wang Tengting on the ninth day of February last year (675) to entertain the ministers and guests. The author went south to visit relatives and passed by here. He also attended the ceremony, improvised poems and wrote this preface.
