Cage is the son of Auguste Coppola, a professor of comparative literature (the brother of director francis ford coppola) and Joey Vogesan, a dancer/choreographer. He changed his name early in his career to gain fame, and achieved brilliant success with a series of classic and eccentric roles in the late1980s.
Initially studying drama at Beverly Hills High School (although he dropped out of school at 17), he got a small role in Happy Hour at Richmond High School (1982)-most of the roles were cut, which shattered his hopes and led him to find a job selling popcorn at Fairfax Theatre, which he thought would be a movie career. But a job reading lines with the audition of Uncle Francis's Rumbling Fish (1983) got him a role in this movie, followed by a punk rocker in Valley Girl (1983), which was first released and really started his career.
At one time, his passion for acting methods reached his personal limit. At that time, he smashed a street vendor's remote-controlled car to achieve the anger he needed for his role as a robber in Cotton Club (1984).
In his early twenties, he dated Jenny Wright for two years and then got in touch with uma thurman. After dating model Christina Fulton for several years, they broke up amicably and jointly owned the custody of their son Weston Coppola Cage (born in 1992).

Finally, let me briefly talk about my views on Cage:
Many people don't know that Cage is a member of the Coppola family. I think people who like American movies are familiar with the name Coppola. Francis coppola, the director of The Godfather series, is Cage's uncle, while female directors Sofia Coppola, who won the Oscar for Lost in Tokyo, is Cage's cousin. In addition, there are many celebrities such as actors in their family. But Cage didn't want to use her own surname and bear the pressure of the family, so she changed her surname to Cage.
He won the 1996 Oscar for his superb acting in "Escape from Las Vegas", and his star road has been smooth since then. He has played many tough guy images, such as Con Air, The Rock, Face/Off and so on. And also played some very gentle pictures, such as "city of angels" played with meg ryan.
