Hangzhou Bay Bridge starts from Haiyan in Jiaxing in the north and ends in Cixi, Ningbo. It is scheduled to be put into trial operation at 23: 58 today. With a total length of 36 kilometers, it is the longest sea-crossing bridge built and under construction in the world. Its opening to traffic has shortened the land distance between Shanghai and Ningbo by120km.

If calculated according to the design speed of 100 km/h, the driving time on the bridge is about 22 minutes. In order to prevent drivers from visual fatigue during driving and increase the safety factor, the guardrail of the bridge is painted with seven colors, each color is about 5 kilometers, and from the south bank to the north bank, it is red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple respectively, so the whole bridge looks like a "colorful rainbow" on the sea. The best viewing position of the whole bridge is undoubtedly the platform in the sea about 14 km away from the south bank of the bridge, with an area of 12000 square meters. Whether watching the sunset and sunrise or listening to the sound of the waves, the platform in the sea is the best position on the bridge.

It is understood that the Olympic torch will enter Zhejiang from Jiangxi Province on May 6, 2008, with Wenzhou as the first stop, Shaoxing on May 7, Hangzhou on May 8, Ningbo on May 9, and the Hangzhou Bay Bridge on the same day. Jiaxing is the last leg of the Zhejiang torch relay, and the torch handover ceremony between Jiaxing and Ningbo will be held at China Southern Airlines Bridge of Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge.
