Mencius’ famous aphorisms about courtesy are as follows:
1. A gentleman’s guarding, cultivating his body, and bringing peace to the world.
2. Those who respect others will always be respected by others; those who love others will always be loved by others.
3. A gentleman’s capacity is limited and his chest swallows hundreds of rivers.
4. When we are old, we are in harmony with others; when we are young, we are in harmony with others.
5. A gentleman has benevolence in his heart and etiquette in his heart. A benevolent person loves others, a polite person respects others.
6. Those who respect, give way, be clean and respectful are the reason why gentlemen keep each other connected. A gentleman who gives way will not fight, and a gentleman who is pure and respectful will not be arrogant. If you don't be slow and don't argue, you will be far better than fighting and arguing. If you don't fight and argue, there will be no disaster.
7. Without rules, there is no way to make a circle.
8. Mencius said: Loving others without being close to them is against their benevolence; treating others without treating them is against their wisdom; being polite and not answering others is against their respect. Those who fail to do so will turn to others for help. If his body is upright, the world will return to him. "Poetry" says: Always say that you are destined, and seek more blessings for yourself.
9. Good governance is not as good as good teaching to win over the people. Good governance will be feared by the people; good education will be loved by the people. Good governance wins people's wealth, and good education wins people's hearts.
10. Mencius said: If you don’t have relatives, you can’t be a person; if you don’t have relatives, you can’t be a son.
11. There is no one who can convince others by being kind. Cultivate people with kindness, and then you can conquer the world. There is no such thing as a king who is not convinced by the world.
12. How to make people respect and be loyal by persuading them? The Master said, "If you approach them with dignity, you will be respectful. If you are filial and kind, you will be loyal. If you do good deeds but cannot teach them, then persuasion will be done."
< p>13. Mencius said: Everyone loves his relatives and grows up, and the world will be peaceful. ?14. Don’t be shameless. Shameless, shameless. Look up to the sky, don't bow down to others. Digging a well for nine feet and still not reaching the spring is like abandoning the well. Those who know know nothing, so they should be urgent; all benevolent people should love, and those who are close to the wise should be urgent. ?
15. Mencius said: Kissing relatives is benevolence; respecting elders is righteousness.
