This sentence deeply touched Coubertin who was present at that time, so he decided to use this sentence as one of the slogans of the Olympic Movement.

After the marathon of the 4th Olympic Games began, Italian candy merchant Dorlando petrie kept ahead and was the first to enter the stadium. Unfortunately, he was exhausted and unconscious. First I ran in the wrong direction, then I fell to the ground several times because of fatigue, but I struggled to get up every time. At the last 15 meter from the finish line, he fell down again, didn't get up again, and walked to the finish line with the help of two doctors. Due to the help of others in the competition, Petrie was disqualified from winning the gold medal. However, in recognition of his enterprising spirit, the International Olympic Committee still awarded him the 1 Gold Cup like a champion.
