Ukiyo-e painting appeared and prevailed in the Edo period in Japan, that is, from 1603 to 1867. Ukiyo-e painting is called the encyclopedia of Edo era in Japan. The name of ukiyo-e painting comes from Japanese "ukiyo-e painting", which means "this world" or "human world". Ukiyo-e painting has three themes, namely, beauty painting, servant painting (portrait of kabuki actor) and landscape painting (famous painting) popular in the later period of Ukiyo-e painting.

Beauty painting

Beauty painting is actually the most widely known form of ukiyo-e painting, and the protagonist depicted in beauty painting is mainly Yoshihara.

Servant painting

Servant painting, also known as kabuki painting, mainly depicts kabuki actors, performance stages, props, and people immersed in kabuki appreciation.

With the trade between Europe and Japan, western painting influenced Ukiyo-e painting. The biggest impact elements brought by western painting are spatial perspective and contrast between light and shade. Ukiyo-e painting was created by plane painting before.
