Seeing that the Dragon Boat Festival is coming, it’s time to eat bayberries again. Zhejiang bayberry is famous throughout the country. Water chestnuts grow bayberry, sweet in taste and average in size. It is mainly produced in Xianju in Majian, Yuyao, Cixi and Lanxi. Lanxi

Lanxi is known as "the first bayberry in June" and "the hometown of bayberry in China". As the main bayberry producing area in central and western Zhejiang, Lanxi is located in a mountainous area with perennial water mist, providing a good growing environment for bayberry. There are more than 70,000 acres of bayberry distributed in Majian, Lanxi, which the locals call the "Wuli Bayberry Corridor". The tallest bayberry is Mawu Village in Majian Town, and many people call it "Mawu bayberry". According to local records, around 1147 AD, Mawu's bayberry was a tribute to the emperor.

Location: Gaozhushan Bayberry Picking Garden, Majian Town. There are picking trails, sightseeing stone pavilions, and farmhouses in the base of more than 3,000 acres. It is the largest bayberry tourist park in Lanxi.

Best picking time: early June.

Transportation: Exit "Lanxi" of Hangjin-Quzhou Expressway, along National Highway 330, via Lanxi Ring Road and Provincial Highway 47 to Majian Town.

Cixi

Cixi Bayberry has tender meat, juicy and strong flavor. Mainly the famous "water chestnut species", it is the "hometown of China's famous economic forest bayberry".

Variety: Water chestnut

Location: Cixi Longshan Resource Bayberry Tourist Park

Best picking time: June 15th to early July

Ticket collection: 50 yuan/person

Transportation: Get off at the Shangyu section of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway, pass through National Highway 329, Hushan, Cixi to Henghe, and go straight in the direction of Shahe to Yang Meiyuan.

藗阳

Xindongkui Bayberry will be picked on weekends.

Variety: Dongkui bayberry

There are two varieties of bayberry in Lujiawu, Xintong Township, Fuyang: small bayberry (Charcoal Plum) and big bayberry (Dongkui).

Ticket selection: 30 yuan/person

Price: take-out small bayberry 8 pounds per basket, 60 yuan, large bayberry, 80 yuan per basket.

Pingyao Huaguo Mountain

Variety: Water Chestnut and Dongkui

Guo Hua, formerly known as Meilin Villa is located in Feng Lane, Tangbu Village, Pingyao. There are two types of bayberries covering more than 500 acres: water chestnut species and Dongkui species. June is the best time to pick Dongkui Bayberry.

Ticket selection: 38 yuan for adults, 25 yuan for children, and Yangmei will be given to you.

Pick a ticket for 60 yuan per person, and you can eat whatever you want on site.

Price: Take away 15 yuan per catty.

West of Tonglu Village

Variety: Water chestnut species

Tonglu Town, Jiangnan Xicunqiancun Natural Village has more than 300 acres of bayberry garden. The mature ones now are all water chestnut varieties, and Dongkui bayberry is expected to be on the market in a week.

Chunzuokou

Variety: Tanmei and Dongkui

Zukou, Chun'an County There are two bayberry varieties, Tan Mei and Dongkui, in Kuixingqiao Village, Township.

Location: Kuixingqiao Village, Zuokou Township

Transportation: 30 kilometers along Guangzuo Highway from Qiandaohu Town to Zuokou Township.

Xiaoshan

Xiaoshan bayberry has a cultivation history of thousands of years. The book "Zhejiang Specialties Flavor Guide" says: "Xiaoshan, Cixi, Yuyao and Lanxi are all the producing areas of bayberry, among which Xiaoshan bayberry is the most famous." Xiaoshan bayberry is the best among the Du family bayberries produced in Suoqian Town, and its characteristics are: The fruit is large, the core is small, the flesh is round, and the juice is sweet. There is a saying that "the mountains are covered with red bayberries during the summer solstice, and there are countless mountains in the south of Xianghu Lake".
