Tao Village

Shou Zhuo Garden and Tao Yuanming’s former residence·Shou Zhuo Garden Scenic Area is located in Tao Village, Yixian County, which is known as a "paradise". It is 6 kilometers away from Tao Yuanming's county seat in Yixian County. The site of Chiling Village (Taocun), where descendants lived, was restored and built into the "Shouzhuoyuan Scenic Area", which features Hui-style architecture and has begun to take shape.

Taocun is the place where Tao Geng, the descendant of Tao Qi, the second son of Tao Yuanming, a famous poet in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, moved around. A large number of historical monuments and cultural sites are still preserved in the village, such as the well-preserved "Tao Family Genealogy", Tao Family's ancestral tomb, Tao Family Pond, Taoling Ancient Plank Road, Tao Family Ancestral Hall, etc.

The Shouzhuoyuan Scenic Area has restored Tao Yuanming’s former residence, Shuikou Garden, parking lot, tourist reception, famous quotes, Tao’s origin culture exhibition hall and other facilities. Today, Shouzhuoyuan, Wenchang Pavilion, and the large stone monument of "Peach Blossom Spring" Engravings, poem inscriptions of "Returning to the Garden and Living in the Fields" and Taohuayuan Cultural Center, Residential Exhibition Hall, Tao Ancestral Hall, Wuliu Hall, Juxian Hall, Taogong Pavilion, etc.

Tao Yuanming's "Return to the Garden and Live in the Fields" contains the poem "Open up the wilderness in the south, stay humble and return to the garden". Here we seem to see Tao Yuanming's ambition to be a "clumsy official" rather than a "skilled official" , showing that he must stick to his pure nature throughout his life.
