However, according to Bruce Lee's idea, Jeet Kune Do is:
1) It classifies Wushu according to different situations in actual combat, such as kicking, hitting, sticking, throwing, falling to the ground and locking. , its characteristics should be observed as long as it can appear;
2) It is an open theoretical system: any technology can be incorporated into this system as long as it is useful, so there is a saying that any technology can be Jeet Kune Do!
3) From having moves to not having moves (that is, from having moves to not having moves): From the basic movement practice, we must understand the essence between movements, otherwise the same movement cannot be called Jeet Kune Do practice. Because once you understand that the essence of strokes is connected, you begin to step into invisibility. You don't care about the name of the move, it's just a name.
I finally understand why Bruce Lee said: Jeet Kune Do is just a name.
2. What's the difference between Jeet Kune Do and other methods (although this comparison is not made on a platform)?
Jeet Kune Do Others
The technical method of expressing N features is very complicated. Unique technical method
A certain type of actual combat play in the kernel theory system
(combining n seemingly complicated things)
Substantial open architecture fixed training mode
(Keep absorbing good things and improve yourself) [Edit this paragraph] 1. General principles of Jeet Kune Do.
Absorb useful technical movements and add your own specialties, so as to enhance your actual combat ability, develop in the direction of applying what you have learned, and explore and create your own martial arts. When you learn Jeet Kune Do, your fists and feet should not still belong to Bruce Lee, but should really belong to yourself, so that you can have any martial arts moves that can give full play to your best strength in actual combat. [Edit this paragraph] 2. The highest purpose and philosophical core of Jeet Kune Do.
"Law is based on impossibility, and infinity is limited", that is, opposing any fixed form and emphasizing "intangible form, intangible form", which is the highest purpose and philosophical core of Jeet Kune Do. Jeet Kune do has no fixed technical depression, and there is no routine form. Some people emphasize "pragmatism" and "formlessness" in actual combat, and fight by instinct. When teaching, Bruce Lee often likes to use water as a metaphor to illustrate the above philosophy: "Like water, it should be invisible. If you pour water into a cup, it will become a part of the cup; if you pour water into a bottle, it will become a part of the bottle. Kick it, hit it and it will splash back. If you grab a handful of water, it will yield without hesitation. If you put pressure on it, the water will run away. The softest one is not afraid of collision. " "The effectiveness of free fighting is not the right form, which is in line with the ancient and modern traditions. It is fighting power to win ... ""Fighting is just an art that strives to knock down opponents in actual combat. See how the other person will respond. You don't know my intention, but my actions are the result of your actions and my skills are the result of your skills. There is no fixed way and method of free fighting. It depends entirely on perception, change and improvisation. " Thus, Jeet Kune Do's highest purpose and philosophical core of "taking the impossible as the law and taking the infinite as the limit" fully embodies the powerful power of the spirit of freedom. [Edit this paragraph] 3. Wushu concept of Jeet Kune Do
Jeet Kune Do believes that the so-called "martial arts" is not only a sport or self-defense, but also a superb art that combines intelligence and skills. In principle, Wushu cannot be learned only. Like science and technology, it depends on practice and experience. Wushu is spontaneous, just like the self-growth process of flowers, and its connotation is completely independent of any external desires and feelings. The main idea of China's Wushu is "Tao"-that is, the law of the universe, that is, the harmonious cooperation and circular transformation of Yin and Yang. This is the truth that every martial artist must follow. In actual combat, Jeet Kune Do emphasizes that your opponent is a living person and will not be fixed in a certain position; I won't let you observe each other first, like other disciples, and then instigate attack and defense; Will not give you time to prepare, squatting like a drill and sandbag; It won't stop fighting in the crackle competition, so you can think about the countermeasures slowly. Therefore, when you see your opponent's body moving, you must strike first. In a battle, all actions must be simple and direct. That is, you should not waste time doing anything. In actual combat with a strong enemy, you should temporarily put aside all concepts of whether the fist posture is correct or not and try your best to fight with your opponent to the end. Bruce Lee often said: "The fiercest people are often agile, strong and ignorant people, or crazy people who scratch, bite and kick." He teaches students that martial arts is an art of seeking truth. On the road of seeking truth, there is no right or wrong, but it is directly expressed in a unique personal way with the shortest time and the simplest action. On the introduction of Wushu, Bruce Lee had a wonderful exposition. 1967 in an interview with the authoritative American martial arts magazine Black Belt, he said: "Before I learned martial arts, one punch was one punch and one foot was one foot. After I learned martial arts, boxing is no longer a boxing, and feet are no longer feet. Now, I really understand this skill. A punch is just a punch and a foot is just a foot. " [Edit this paragraph] 4. The Tao of Jeet Kune Do and the contradiction between attack and defense.
In the early 1960s, when Bruce Lee opened the Fan Zhen Kung Fu Museum in Seattle, he personally designed the logo patterns for Fan Zhen Kung Fu and later Jeet Kune Do. Today, we call it Fan Zhen Jeet Kune Do Taiji Diagram: the center of the pattern is Taiji Diagram representing Taoist philosophy in China traditional culture, and the periphery is two thin and precise arrows, symbolizing the circular flow of Yin and Yang in the universe. Jeet Kune Do believes that the argument about soft work and hard work is irrelevant. Yin and Yang are two halves of the whole, and each half is equally important. The harmonious cooperation of Yin and Yang is two invisible and perfect forces hidden behind everything. Yin and Yang, also known as Tai Chi, are the basic structures of all martial arts. Yin and Yang is a theoretical theory established as early as the end of the Western Zhou Dynasty in China. It divides the changing law of everything in the universe into two categories: yin and yang. The two struggle, depend on each other, transform each other, and go back and forth endlessly. In nature, Yin and Yang are particularly prominent, attacking and defending, fast and slow, virtual and real, Zhang and relaxation ... Let's take the confrontation between them as an example to see the harmonious interaction of Yin and Yang in martial arts and the transformation of cause and effect: A hits B (Yang), B can't fight hard, but use soft power to control the opponent's coming (Yin), that is, the best policy is to combine rigidity with softness; This is the cooperation of yin and yang. When Party A's offensive came to an end and Yang turned to Yin, Party B immediately turned to Yang and fought back. The whole process from defense (yin) to counterattack (yang) is smooth and natural, and there is no sense of restraint. Therefore, Jeet Kune Do believes that a good fighter will not intercept directly when attacked, but will collide with his opponent. And let go, lead him into the shortlist, and then fight him back with the power of attack. [Edit this paragraph] 5. Jeet Kune Do emphasizes that martial arts vary from person to person.
"Most martial arts exercises are just imitative repetitions of the rights and wrongs. They are factory products and have lost their uniqueness." Master Bruce Lee said: "I think the proper self-defense skills of professors (please note that they are taught, not passed on) should vary from person to person. Each of us has different constitutions and ideas, so each of us should learn the right ways to adapt ourselves. The correct method, I mean the most effective technology suitable for someone. We just need to find out what he is good at and improve these technologies. " As early as the early 1960s, when the United States opened the museum and awarded it to Wujin, Bruce Lee emphasized this point very much. When teaching apprentices, he never likes to instill a lot of knowledge into students, let alone attend classes in groups. Later, he only taught one person, thinking that it would be better only in this way. As a "son of the dragon", Brandon Lee said in an interview with reporters before his death: "Jeet Kune Do was designed by his father with all his efforts, combined with his body shape and physical strength. No one can learn this skill except my father Bruce Lee, not even me. Because there is only one Bruce Lee in the world. " Brandon Lee's remarks are not to pour cold water on those who love Jeet Kune Do and are eager to learn Jeet Kune Do, but to further emphasize the concept that "martial arts should vary from person to person". Therefore, only blind obedience and imitation can never find the true meaning of Wushu. The same punching and kicking, which Bruce Lee kicked, is "Jeet Kune Do", but if it is mechanically imitated and then sent out, it is not necessarily "Jeet Kune Do". You must study hard, master the philosophy of Jeet Kune Do, and seek the fighting method that suits you best. At the same time, combined with their own physique, thinking, body shape, to create a completely suitable martial arts. At this time, no matter whether you use Kung Fu, Muay Thai, karate or boxing, you can call it Jeet Kune Do, and you will truly understand and master the unique art of Jeet Kune Do. [Edit this paragraph ]6. How to treat Fan Zhen Jeet Kune Do objectively?
Fan Zhen Jeet Kune Do, founded by Bruce Lee, is not only an excellent way of martial arts training and attack, but also a profound martial arts and philosophy of life. I believe that more and more young friends will join the ranks of learning and training with their love for the truth of martial arts and deep reverence for Master Bruce Lee. This is naturally a good thing. "Love is the best teacher" (Einstein's words), it will give you endless motivation in your study, climb the stairs in the temple of knowledge, and bravely climb to the peak of martial arts and life. However, Fan Zhen Jeet Kune Do is not a "magic skill" or "stunt". Anyone who learns it can't immediately become the king of the ring, a master of fighting, and a "king of iron and blood" who plays invincible hands all over the world (no martial arts in the world can achieve such a "magical effect"); Whether you can become a martial arts expert depends on your sweat and hard work, on your personal quality and understanding, and on whether you can withstand thousands of practical trials and tests. "Plum blossom fragrance comes from bitter cold, and sword edge comes from sharpening", "Cherry is delicious, it is difficult to plant trees, and you can't blossom without hard work". I hope young friends can scientifically and objectively view and understand Fan Zhen Jeet Kune Do, "Everything starts from the ground", do ordinary things with a normal heart, work hard to lay a good foundation, and train hard step by step. I wish you all good results in your future study. [Edit this paragraph ]7. Fan Zhen Jeet Kune Do-The Road to Personality Liberation
In front of Bruce Lee's tomb in Seattle, there is an exquisite stone carving book. On the left page, the famous saying "The law cannot be made, and it is infinitely limited" and the symbol of Fan Zhen Jeet Kune Do-Taiji Map are engraved in Chinese, which highly summarizes Bruce Lee's academic achievements in his life. On the right, Ms. Linda from Li Furen and the disciples of Jeet Kune Do in Fan Zhen are engraved with the inscription to a generation of master Bruce Lee: "You are still guiding us to the road of personality liberation in the spirit of heaven." Yes, as Bruce Lee once said, "Wushu, like other arts, is fundamentally a rational self-knowledge. One punch and one foot not only knocked down the opponent in front of you, but also knocked down your selfishness, your fear and all your psychological obstacles. Because once you understand this truth, you will set yourself free. [Edit this paragraph] Bruce Lee's fist creation.
In late April, 1959, a competition between different schools of China Wushu was held in Kowloon City. Bruce Lee entered the competition as a disciple of Ip Man, representing Wing Chun Gate. At that time, Bruce Lee used Li's name to challenge the Wing Chun Gate of other schools.
The story of this tournament was written into Bruce Lee's diary. The diary says that his opponent is a man who has been practicing boxing for four years, but it doesn't say what kind of boxing faction this man belongs to. The venue of the competition is the roof of a building, where there is a basketball court. According to the rules of the game, anyone who is knocked down or escapes from the basketball court is negative. When Bruce Lee was about to take off his coat, his opponent suddenly punched Bruce Lee in the face, which immediately made the rules of the game useless and the two sides wrestled together. Soon, Bruce Lee gained the upper hand and knocked his opponent to the ground. Bruce Lee kicked his opponent's face again to vent his anger, and his opponent was kicked to the teeth. Although the opponent's sneak attack hit Bruce Lee's eyes in Qing Wu and Bruce Lee won the final victory, the opponent's parents filed a lawsuit with the court, and a lawsuit was waiting for Bruce Lee.
Bruce Lee can no longer live in Hongkong, so his parents decided to send Bruce Lee to the United States. Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, so he is a citizen of this city. 1959 in may, Bruce Lee went to school alone. In September of the same year, Bruce Lee entered the philosophy department of Washington University from Seattle Edison Institute of Technology for further study. He carefully studied the Wing Chun Boxing he had learned, and used it as a female boxing to create a new kind of boxing, which he named "Fan Zhen Kung Fu". Later, he established the Fan Zhen Kungfu Museum to teach martial arts.
1July, 964, Bruce Lee moved to Auckland for development. In August of the following year, he opened the "Auckland Fan Zhen National Art Museum" there. Bruce Lee's life in Oakland has changed a lot, especially the match with Huang.
At that time, the martial arts circle in China was relatively closed, and China Kung Fu was basically not passed on to foreigners, especially local overseas Chinese. This sense of closure is even stronger. However, Bruce Lee teaches foreigners martial arts regardless of race.
Chinese living in San Francisco's Chinatown have repeatedly made representations to Bruce Lee on this matter, hoping that he would stop spreading martial arts to foreigners, but Bruce Lee has always ignored it. Angered Chinatown invited Huang to teach Bruce Lee a lesson. It is said that Huang is a member of the White Crane Boxing School, but in fact he doesn't know much about his own situation.
At the end of 1964, Huang and his disciples 10 people appeared in the Bruce Lee Martial Arts School, demanding that Bruce Lee promise not to recruit foreign students again, or meet each other by force. If Bruce Lee fails in the championship, he will either close the martial arts school or accept Chinatown's request. This is equivalent to the last level of Chinatown. Chinatown didn't want this to happen at first. It just wants to force Bruce Lee to make concessions through threats. I didn't expect Bruce Lee to really accept Huang's challenge. According to Bruce Lee's proposal, the two sides decided that the tournament should not have any prohibited means, that is, fighting without any rules.
Linda and Bruce Lee's disciples both quit the martial arts school, leaving only Bruce Lee, Huang and the people they brought. At the beginning of the tournament, Bruce Lee first stormed Huang with a straight fist, forcing him to retreat. Bruce Lee continued to chase, and Huang could not resist such a fierce offensive. He ran away with his back to Bruce Lee, but Bruce Lee hit him hard on the head. Finally, Bruce Lee finally caught up with Huang, knocked him to the ground, and then rode on Huang to continue beating, and Huang lost the ability to fight back. Apart from a few minor injuries behind his ear, Bruce Lee won an overwhelming victory. However, this battle made Bruce Lee discover his own problems, because the first game lasted more than 30 seconds. According to Bruce Lee's idea, the fight should end in 6 seconds, and the fight that wins the game instantly is the most ideal. So for Bruce Lee, 30 seconds is obviously too long, and in the process of chasing an opponent, knocking him down and riding him is by no means an ideal way of fighting in Bruce Lee's mind, which is far from what he wants to achieve.
The advantage of wing chun is that it can attack and defend in a very short distance, so the range of gait advance and retreat is very small. However, this kind of footwork is difficult to catch up with Huang when the opponent escapes. If you want to catch up with your opponent, it will inevitably destroy the footwork rhythm of Wing Chun Boxing, and the result can only be relentless pursuit. Therefore, Bruce Lee decided to put the research of footwork on the agenda.
The battle with Huang prompted Bruce Lee to devote himself to the study of footwork. He asked his disciple Dan Irushando to be his opponent in practice. Irushan is good at Philippine martial arts and an extremely fast American football player. In the practice with this apprentice who is faster than himself and agile, Bruce Lee repeatedly observed and pondered his footwork, thus making new progress in footwork. ?
1In March, 966, in order to participate in the production of TV programs, Bruce Lee handed over the martial arts school in Auckland to his proud disciple Li Zhongqing and went to Los Angeles himself. In Los Angeles, he met Irushando, and they further discussed martial arts. Bruce Lee at this time is different from when he opened the martial arts school in Oakland.
One day, Bruce Lee and Irushando were chatting in the car, and the conversation gradually turned to fencing. The problem discussed by both sides is a tactic in fencing: stop hitting. This tactic refers to not avoiding the opponent's attack, but seizing the opportunity to stab the opponent faster, emphasizing winning by distance advantage, which is an advanced technique and tactic in fencing. Bruce Lee thinks this tactic is his ideal state of attack and defense. Referring to the use of "stop hitting", he named his kung fu Jeet Kune Do.
In this way, in the dialogue between Bruce Lee and Irushandu, the name Jeet Kune Do came into being. In February, 1967, the National Gallery of Fan Zhen opened. Among the three certificates awarded to Yirushandu by Bruce Lee, there are the words "Fan Art Museum of Fanjun Kungfu Academy", "Bruce Lee Tao of China Kungfu Fan Boxing Road" and "Jeet Kune Do in Bruce Lee". In addition, the title "Jeet Kune Do" was used for the first time in the American martial arts publications Black Belt 10 and1monthly. As a result, the name "Jeet Kune Do" began to be known to the world. [Edit this paragraph] ◆ Explanation of Jeet Kune Do
Jeet Kune Do means interception and tackle, while "fist" means boxing, while "Tao" means Tao and style, which is interpreted in English as "the way to intercept boxing". The simple explanation is "the way to intercept the fist", which is the way to deal with the enemy's attack. Because we are facing an enemy, Jeet Kune Do is a real martial art, abandoning any fancy and impractical skills. The word "Dao" in Jeet Kune Do not only represents a martial arts style, but also contains the spiritual cultivation contained in "Karate" and "Taekwondo".
As we all know, Bruce Lee University studied philosophy, and he integrated philosophy into martial arts, just like the "combination of boxing and Zen" in Shaolin Temple. In fact, we can observe it from the Cantonese pronunciation of Jeet Kune Do. "Duan" and "Zhe" have the same pronunciation in Cantonese, and Bruce Lee himself is a Cantonese. Judging from the name of Jeet Kune Do, it also embodies the important technical concept of this kind of actual martial arts-interception, which is to intercept when the opponent's attack (action) is about to be pushed, which is also what China military strategists said:
The meaning of "crossing the river without help, bumping into the current" is also!
Jeet Kune Do (JKD) is a practical fighting technique founded by Bruce Lee, which is unique among the world's martial arts and has become a world-famous martial arts ... Bruce Lee, as a great fighter in China, a martial arts philosopher, a pioneer in the world's martial arts reform, and a world film and television superstar, combines the essence of 26 world martial arts such as Wing Chun, Tai Chi, Muay Thai, Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, Filipino martial arts and French boxing. 1966 founded a modern martial art of all-round irregular fighting: Jeet Kune Do (the way of self-shaping): Bruce Lee Jeet Kune Do is a practical martial art of self-shaping. Practicing Jeet Kune Do is actually knowing yourself, knowing yourself and expressing yourself faithfully! As Jeet Kune Do practitioners, we should be deeply honored. From the practice and practice of Jeet Kune Do, we can all get a comprehensive shaping and practice of body, mind and skills. In fact, even if you don't practice Jeet Kune Do, you can still get your own life inspiration from the philosophical principle of Jeet Kune Do and the life struggle of its founder Bruce Lee, which will greatly stimulate and promote your life goals and ideals.
