Hu Linyi (July 14, 1812 - September 30, 1861), courtesy name Kuansheng, nickname Runzhi, Han nationality, a native of Quanjiaohe, Yiyang County, Hunan, one of the famous officials of Zhongxing in the late Qing Dynasty 1. An important leader of the Hunan Army.

He became a Jinshi in the 16th year of Daoguang's reign. He was taught editing and editing, and served successively as co-examiner of the National Examination and deputy examiner of the Jiangnan Provincial Examination. He successively served as the prefect of Anshun, Zhenyuan, Liping and Guidong Province. In the fourth year of Xianfeng, he moved to Sichuan as inspector. In the following year, he was transferred to Hubei as inspector and was promoted to Hubei chief envoy and department governor. During the period of Fu Hubei, he paid attention to rectifying the administration of officials, introducing talents, and coordinating relations between all parties. He recommended Zuo Zongtang, Li Hongzhang, Yan Jingming, etc. many times, which were praised by people at the time. Together with Zeng Guofan, Li Hongzhang, and Peng Yulin, he was also known as the "Four Famous Ministers of Zhongxing" ".
