1924, when the Kuomintang and the Communist Party joined hands for the first time and the national revolution was surging, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, a great man of the century, was far-sighted and regarded "education as a sacred cause and talents as the foundation of the country" and personally founded two schools in Guangzhou-National Guangdong University (now Sun Yat-sen University) and Whampoa Military Academy. The official name of the Whampoa Military Academy was "China Kuomintang Army Academy" when it was founded. Because the school site is located in Huangpu Island in the southeast of Guangzhou, it was called Whampoa Military Academy in history. The Whampoa Military Academy was established to train officers for the National Revolutionary Army, and then its students became the main force of the National Government's Northern Expedition to unify China. 1946 After the constitution was enacted, the Kuomintang of China nominally handed over the army to the state, and later renamed it "Army Academy of the Republic of China".

The Whampoa Military Academy was founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen with the active support and help of China and the Soviet Union, and it was the product of the first cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.
