On January 8, 1960, Lei Feng was drafted into the army and came to a certain unit of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Shenyang stationed in Yingkou City to transport re-elected soldiers. After joining the army, he was awarded second-class merit once and third-class merit twice. He was awarded many regimental and battalion awards. He was rated as a model of economy. The leadership of the Shenyang Army Engineering Corps awarded him the title of "Model Communist Youth League Member". On April 7, 1960, Lei Feng went to Fushun with his troops to perform construction tasks. In November, Lei Feng gloriously joined the Communist Party of China. At the end of autumn and early winter, we returned to Yingkou to participate in winter training. After the Spring Festival in 1961, he went to Fushun again to perform construction tasks. In June, he was elected as the People's Representative of Fushun City. On August 15, 1962, Comrade Lei Feng unfortunately died while performing his mission in Fushun City, Liaoning Province. He was only 22 years old.
