The Cixi Mausoleum is located in Putuo Valley. The construction period of the Cixi Mausoleum was 1873. Originally, the mausoleums of the Western Empress Dowager and the Eastern Empress Dowager were similar in size and format, but Cixi was not satisfied. She had to renovate her own mausoleum during the Guangxu period, so the tomb of the Western Empress Dowager Cixi was much more gorgeous than that of the Eastern Empress Dowager.
Cixi is an extremely selfish person. This can be clearly seen from the Sino-Japanese War of 1898 and the Eight-Power Allied Forces' invasion of China. At that time, Cixi only cared about her own comfort and enjoyment and did not care about the state of the country. In a dangerous situation, her expenses were even deducted from the military expenses of the Qing Dynasty army. Such a selfish woman naturally did not want the tomb to be stolen after her death. Therefore, when she saw her tomb She got very angry when it was overgrown with weeds.
In Cixi's mind, being overgrown with weeds means that weeds will turn into bandits, which means that there will be thieves who will rob Cixi's tomb. Remove weeds from above.
Why is there no grass growing in Cixi’s Mausoleum?
Cixi’s order is greater than the sky. The people below must try their best to satisfy Cixi’s request. In order to solve the problem of weeds growing on the mausoleum, the princes tried their best and finally settled in a book. I found the same mausoleum with no vegetation in the ancient classics, and then I learned from the practices of my predecessors.
They first dug up all the soil on Cixi's tomb, then put it into a pot and stir-fried it. Of course, they not only stir-fried it, but also put sulfur and nitric acid in it to remove the nutrients in the soil. Complete decomposition, thereby achieving the purpose of making the soil barren of grass. Obviously, this is indeed effective. At least there are indeed no weeds regenerating on the Cixi Mausoleum.
Of course, Cixi’s own ideas did not come true. Her mausoleum was already very attractive. Twenty years after her death, Cixi’s mausoleum was looted by Sun Dianying. After Sun Dianying, The Cixi Mausoleum was visited many times, and it was so miserable that many of the treasures inside were leaked out, and their whereabouts are now unknown.
Cixi’s own idea was not implemented, but it became a reality that if the tombs in Feng Shui were full of weeds, the population would be prosperous, and if there was no grass growing, it would be the same. The Qing Dynasty collapsed a few years after her death. Well, the idea that Cixi's own mausoleum will not be stolen can only be said to be wishful thinking.
