Confucius' general plan of governing the country advocates that "morality is the mainstay and punishment is the auxiliary". A country, a society, can't just talk about morality without punishment. Governing the country, the family and the people by virtue, paying attention to etiquette, taking benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom and faith as the standards of being a man, educating the people, respecting and loving each other, being unfaithful and achieving elegance, nobility and harmony. For a few evil, stubborn people, people who disdain morality, don't just pay attention to tolerance, but should be supplemented by punishment. Confucius stresses the efficiency of life and the dignity of personality. Tolerance is not a perfect way to live. Confucius advocated kindness, but he didn't think that we should forgive everyone's mistakes with the kindness of losing principles.
Confucius advocated a third attitude to the problem of complaining. He advocated "complaining directly", that is, dealing with people who are at fault and misbehave correctly with a fair, frank, open and noble personality. That is to say: there must be a standard for morality. First, we should not retaliate against each other and kill each other. Second, we can't tolerate rape and connive at crime. To complain directly, in the current parlance, is to take up the weapon of law, solve the unjust problem with the just rule of law, and also educate the immoral people about morality and law popularization. Law is a standard, a yardstick, and people can't deviate too much. "Confucius took pictures of things, and after seven days, he punished Shao Zhengmao, while the evil of Lu was blocked." This is a good example of responding to complaints directly.
