I sat alone on the sofa, thinking about the book I had just finished reading. Tears of sadness filled my eyes and flames of anger filled my heart, which revived my tired soul, which had been covered up by the cruelty and selfishness of the secular world for a long time. This is my real feeling after reading Oliver Twist by the famous British writer Charles Dickens.
My resonance with the book makes me feel not only the goodness and evil of all the characters in the novel, but what this indifferent society lacks, what I lack in my heart. These supreme resources I am talking about are somewhat different from the minerals and oil we usually mention. They are as abstract as feelings, and they are some kind of spiritual stimulation that all of us are eager to get from each other-love and care.
The charitable figures created by Dickens in his novels are exactly what we need in our lives. They show love and care for others, just like gentle rain falling from the sky to the ground, deeply engraved in my heart.
Brownlow is such a person.
One day, a watch he carefully made was stolen by two sophisticated young thieves, the cunning Dodger and Charlie Bates. He naturally thought Oliver did it. He was an orphan and was forced to live with a group of thieves because he was the only one nearby after the theft. In a rage, he caught Oliver and sent him to the police station, where bad-tempered and unfair judges were working. Fortunately, Oliver was later proved innocent by a bystander. Out of sympathy, Mr. Brownlow took the injured poor Oliver back to his home. Oliver lived there freely and happily for several months as if he were Mr. Brownlow's own son. One day, however, Mr Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the booksellers and send some money to the new books he had collected. The thief Olivier once stayed with kidnapped him. Since then, he has disappeared from Mr. Brownlow's life. After searching for a while, Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he ran away with the money. But dramatically, they met again a few years later. Mr. Brownlow didn't hesitate to take Oliver home for the second time, no matter whether he did anything bad or not.
Perhaps most of us will be puzzled by Mr Brownlow's reaction. But in fact, this is exactly what we should learn from him. Jesus said in the Bible. "Don't forgive seven times, but seventy times seven." Why? Because forgiveness is our ability to get rid of negative thoughts and neutralize them, so that our energy can be used to do what we are here for. If the problems of the past obscure our thinking, we can't move forward in the future. Don't include Mr. Brown in your model list. Always give people a second chance, no matter what they do. This is also an important part of loving and caring for others.
Then Mrs. Merry and Ross, Oliver's other patrons. Maybe the reason why they love and care about Oliver is not forgiveness. In my opinion, it is trust. They trusted Oliver when he was considered a dirty burglar and tried to break down Merry's front door at midnight. But these two ladies don't see the whole thing that way. They immediately denied Oliver's crime and listened carefully to Oliver's description of his miserable life. Oliver's strong perseverance and amazing vitality deeply touched them. Therefore, they repaired Oliver's body and mind and turned him into another boy. He began to put on a clean suit tailored for him and get an education.
In our opinion, it is trust that helps us all live together without being prepared. Sometimes trust can even lead us to miracles, which we often expect, so why not trust? Believe in yourself and others, and you will pay tribute to miracles every day.
In the novel, although the young Oliver fell into the plot of those ugly thieves again and again, they tried to torture Oliver's body and strongly poison Oliver's mind, but he was always alive and tried to find his own life. Then I realized that it was faith that supported him. In most cases, you will be what you believe. Believe that you are infinite, you can do anything you promise to do, and when you do, your achievements will be infinite. You control your beliefs, and that's how you finally control your life. It all depends on your attitude.
In the final analysis, love and care include countless forms, such as forgiving love and trusting love. But it all comes from your life beliefs. When someone tells you that he cheated you, forgive him anyway. When someone tells you what he did, trust him anyway. When you face adversity in the process of chasing your dreams, think about your beliefs, and the things that hinder you will soon become a piece of cake.
So, find out the "olive people" in your life and do as Mr. Brownlow and Mrs. Melly do: love and care for them, which costs nothing, but saves a lot of money. They make the receiver rich, but not the giver poor. They may be some of the smallest words or actions, but the memory of them is sometimes eternal.
Charles Dickens said, "Love makes the world go round." These immortal words have inspired and will continue to inspire us to sing the melody of love and pray for eternal love. Therefore, let us enjoy life and care for others. These principles are the root and foundation of the belief that supports this article and our common mission.
The author himself was born in a poor family. When he was in his twenties, he wrote this novel to expose the ugly masks of cruel criminals and the horror and violence hidden under the narrow and dirty streets of London.
The hero of this novel is Oliver Twist, an orphan, who is thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered great pain, such as hunger, thirst, beatings and abuse. When reading the tragic experience of little Oliver, I was shocked by his pain. I sympathize with the poor boy, but at the same time I hate the evil Fagin and the cruel Bill. To my relief, as written in all the best stories, kindness finally defeated the devil and Oliver finally lived a happy life. One of the most attractive scenes for me is that after the theft, little Oliver recovered and started a new life under the kind care of Mrs. Merry and Rose. He walks with them, or Ross reads to him. He studies hard. He felt as if he had left the world of crime, hardship and poverty forever.
How can such a little boy who has been tortured by oppression keep his body and mind pure? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think this is the most important message implied in Dickens' novels-he believes that kindness can overcome all difficulties. Although I don't think kindness is everything, I do believe that good people live happier than evil ones.
For me, a kind nature is one of the most necessary qualities of a person. Kindness is as important to mankind as water is to fish. A man without kindness is a worthless man. On the contrary, as a famous saying goes, "fragrance always stays in the hands of roses", and a kind person is undoubtedly a happy and useful person. The people who accept his help are grateful to him, and he is satisfied with what he has done, so he can do good for the people he has helped and himself.
To my disappointment, some people now seem to doubt the existence of goodness in human nature. They look down on people's honesty and kindness and think that people's kindness is stupid. Therefore, they have no sympathy for those in trouble and seldom take the initiative to help others. On the other hand, they value money and interests. In their view, money is the only real object, while emotion and morality are nothing. If they can't benefit from showing their "kindness", they will shrink back when others are in trouble, or even hit people when they are in trouble. They are the kind of people I hate very much.
Francis Bacon said in his article, "Kindness is the greatest of all virtues and spiritual dignity, and it is the quality of God. Without it, man is a busy, naughty and poor thing, not much better than a pest."
In other words, a person without kindness is doomed to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those' vermin' to learn from the kind Oliver and regain my kind nature.
