Huineng said, it's not the wind, it's not exercise, it's your heart! Everyone was surprised to hear that.
The allusion "not wind, not movement, but the heart of the benevolent" profoundly depicts the fundamental teachings of Mahayana Buddhism, which is empty and created by all idealism.

The third Zen thought in the Six Ancestors Tanjing: "No Writing".
The origin of Zen Buddhism's "don't write, don't teach" and "heart to heart" is that the original intention of "don't write" of Huineng Nanzong, an allusion of Sakyamuni's "smiling at flowers", is not to advocate not writing completely, nor is it just to teach disciples not to write rigidly when learning Confucian classics, but to break through the mask of language and try to grasp the truth behind it.
The altar sutra of the Six Ancestors points out that "if Mahayana people, if they are the best, they will be enlightened when they hear about the Diamond Sutra, so they know that nature has its own universal wisdom, self-use wisdom and constant outlook, so it is not empty." In other words, those who have extraordinary and vast wisdom will immediately understand the true meaning of Buddhism as soon as they hear people talk about the Diamond Sutra.
Knowing that there is universal wisdom in human nature, we can still observe and examine it with this wisdom, so there is no need to use words. This statement is very realistic. Merit comes naturally, consciousness comes unintentionally, and Zen enlightenment should not be bound by words. Huineng held high the banner of "not writing" and reformed the disadvantages of Buddhism since the Sui and Tang Dynasties mainly from the following three aspects:
1. Oppose the formulaic practice mode in practice and meditate in daily life; It was Huineng who returned to Buddhism in practice.
2. Oppose formal precepts and regulations and advocate "no precepts"; That is, the precept of the heart is Huineng's return to the original intention of the Buddha in keeping the precept.
3. Oppose the tedious study of scholasticism in doctrine, and publicize Buddhism that pays attention to real life; In terms of doctrine, it returned to the original intention of the Buddha to create doctrine.
