In 688, Wang Zhihuan was born into a noble family in Taiyuan. The fifth ancestor, Wang Longzhi, was a post-Wei Jiangzhou secretariat, and his great grandfather, Wang Xin, was an official of the Sui Dynasty. However, for some reason, Wang Zhihuan did not take the road of imperial examination, and supplemented the main book of Hengshui in Jizhou with the gate valve.
In 722, at the age of 35, Wang Zhihuan married the third daughter of Li Dizhi, the magistrate of Hengshan County, Jizhou, because Wang Zhihuan had a wife at this time and Li was just eighteen. After they got married, they had a good relationship. Although Wang Zhihuan quit his job shortly after marriage, Li didn't complain at all and lived a poor life with Wang Zhihuan. Later, Wang Zhihuan became an official again, but he died soon. Li also died in the sixth year after Wang Zhihuan's death.
In 726, Wang Zhihuan took office in Hengshui, Jizhou, and wrote poems "Banquet Words" and "Farewell". But it was also in this year that Wang Zhihuan resigned angrily because of being slandered, and began his poor life with nothing to do for fifteen years. During this period, Wang Zhihuan wrote Lyrics of Lusu and Liangzhou.
In 742, Wang Zhihuan became an official again, and became a lieutenant in Wen 'an County. On February 24th of the same year, Wang Zhihuan died in the official residence at the age of 55.
In 743, Wang Zhihuan was buried in Luoyang Beiyuan.
Wang Zhihuan's frontier poems
Wang Zhihuan was a great poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. The environment in the prosperous Tang Dynasty made the poet more suitable for that era and made his poems prosperous. Although only six poems were aborted in Wang Zhihuan, these six poems undoubtedly made the name Wang Zhihuan shine in the long river of history. Wang Zhihuan's frontier poems are especially famous. Among his six poems, three are frontier poems, the most famous of which is Liangzhou Ci.
"Liangzhou Ci" wrote: "The Yellow River is far above the white clouds, and there is an isolated city, Wan Ren Mountain. Why bother to complain about the willow, the spring breeze is only Yumenguan. " In this poem, the author wrote about the cold of the frontier fortress through only 28 words, and even wrote that the soldiers who were guarding the frontier missed their hometown, but they had to guard the frontier for the stability of the motherland. In this poem, there is no feeling of clinging to the border and no feeling of despair. Instead, it is full of positive significance. By using the method of line drawing, people can see a border defense map.
The opening sentence of "The Yellow River is between distant mountains and white clouds" shows the majestic momentum of the Yellow River as if it fell from the sky, which makes people feel the majestic atmosphere and lays the artistic conception of the whole poem. Let the whole poem, although there are bitter words in it, see no trivial bitterness at all. The phrase "why should a strong enemy complain about Liu" expresses the homesickness of the soldiers guarding the border. In this sentence, the author euphemistically uses two words "why" and "resentment" to express the pain of soldiers leaving their homes, and also shows that it is the responsibility of soldiers to guard the border, and there is no need to get angry. "The spring breeze is just the Yumenguan Pass" shows that the frontier fortress is really a cold and biting place, and even the spring breeze is unwilling to go.

Although there are only six poems written by Wang Zhihuan so far, they have conquered the readers of later generations with their romantic charm and magnificent artistic conception, making these poems widely circulated, especially the world-famous "Lusu" and "Liangzhou Ci". Especially the sentence in Heron Hostel, "Up a flight of stairs, your vision is broadened by 300 miles". It is also a well-known aphorism for thousands of years.
