"The lotus wind brings fragrance, and the bamboo dew drops make a clear sound."
Recently, I am obsessed with watercolors and I am a DIY expert, so I took advantage of my lunch break to draw a small "watercolor lotus" bookmark. It is very practical. When sandwiched between the pages of the book, the air seems to be filled with fragrance and becomes peaceful.
Take a piece of 300g watercolor paper. I purchased some watercolor tools online before, so I gave them a few postcards, which were relatively small, 10.5X15.5cm. If you don't have postcard paper, you can also use larger paper, but it should be slightly thicker. It's too thin and not suitable for bookmarks.
Use a pencil to draw two lines on the postcard paper, dividing the paper into thirds. The size of each portion is approximately 5.1X10.5cm.
Select one of the papers and keep the other two for later drawing. Make a "lotus" draft on the paper. I selected two pictures from the Internet and combined them to draw one.
Because you need to apply watercolor, you need to use an eraser to erase the light sketch.
Use watercolor to create a light pink base.
Darken the tips of the petals to give them a gradient effect. (My level is limited and my painting is not good. One of the petals is incomplete.)
Note that the color of the front and back of the lotus leaf is different.
Draw some veins of lotus leaves and lotus pods, and deepen the stems. Some of them are not well drawn and can be slightly repaired. (There is a lotus leaf partially covered with white)
Drill a small hole in the bookmark (I used a thumbtack) and tie it with a ribbon. Does the bookmark look good? (I happened to have a ribbon on hand, so I tied one. If not, skip this step.)
Caught in a book, handmade, always with warmth.
Have you learned it?
It’s very simple, just use your hands!
