In dedication and happiness-Liang Qichao wrote
original text
Dedicated and happy (1)
I took this topic out of context from the two sentences of "respecting career (3)" in Book of Rites (2) and "being prepared for danger in times of peace, enjoying career (5)" in Laozi (4). Whether what I said is in line with the original intention of the Book of Rites and Laozi needs no further study. But I firmly believe that the word "dedication" is the only way of human life (6).
The main eye of this topic (7) naturally lies in the words "respect" and "music". But you must have a job first, and then you will have a respectable and cola theme, which is easy to understand. Therefore, before the main body of the speech, we should first talk about the necessity of having a job.
Confucius said, "It's hard to eat all day without heart!" He also said, "It is difficult to live in groups all day, but it is not as good as words!" Confucius is an educator, and there is no untraceable person in his thoughts. He just shook his head, sighed at these two people and said, "Difficult! Difficult! " It can be seen that all the problems in life can be cured by medicine, and the unemployed, although moved by the Great Sage, are helpless.
There was a famous monk in the Tang Dynasty, Zen Master Baizhang, who often taught his disciples two aphorisms, saying, "If you don't do anything, you won't eat for a day." Apart from what he said in class, he had to sweep the floor, clean the table and wash clothes by himself every day until he was eighty years old. Once, his favorite pupil wanted to serve him and quietly did all the work that should be done that day. The old Zen master, concerned about words and deeds, was honest and impolite, and refused to eat that day.
I quote these two paragraphs from Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism to prove that everyone should have a proper career and keep working. If someone asks me, "What ranks first in a hundred lines?" What is the first evil? "I replied without thinking:" All trades come first, and all evils and laziness come first. "Lazy people without a job are simply Mi Chong in society, thieves who" rob others of their hard-earned money ". We should make a thorough crusade against such people and never forgive them. Today's speech is for students who are preparing for and doing their careers, telling them what attitude they should take towards their current careers.
The first is to be dedicated. The word "respect" is the simplest and most straightforward way for ancient sages to teach people to be human beings. Unfortunately, it was later said too implicitly by some people, which led to unrealistic. Only Zhu Zi (8) can explain the problem best. He said, "There is no respect for the Lord." In modern terms, if you do something, you will be loyal to it, and you will concentrate all your energy on it, which is respect (10). What's respectable about karma? Why should I respect it? On the one hand, human beings work for life, on the other hand, they live for labor. Since human beings are not specially created by God to act as machines for digesting bread, it is natural that everyone should decide what to do according to his status and talents (1 1). Everything that can be called a thing is respectable in essence. Being president is one thing, so is pulling a rickshaw (12). The name of the matter, in the eyes of laymen, has a high degree; The essence of things, dissected from the theory (13), has no competition. As long as the president believes that I can be a president, I will really take being a president as a serious matter; People who pull rickshaws always believe that I can pull rickshaws before pulling them. Really, it is a reasonable life to take rickshaw pulling as a serious matter. This is called the sanctity of profession. No occupation is not sacred, so no occupation is not respectable. Only (14) is like this, so we have no choice in various occupations. In short, in life, you have to work every day. Work is a virtue, and not working is a sin. As for what I should do? It all depends on my ability and situation. Because of his own talent and situation, to do a job to the extreme is the first person between heaven and earth.
How can I finish a work? The only secret is loyalty. The psychological source of loyalty is respect. Zhuangzi (15) tells the story of a wobbly husband (16), saying, "Although there are many things in the world, I only know its wings (17)." Anyone who does something will regard it as my life. No matter what other benefits, he will not sacrifice what I am doing to exchange with him. I believe that a good table made by me as a carpenter has the same value as building a Republican country by you as a politician. I believe that cleaning toilets when I am a dung collector is as valuable as fighting a besieged enemy when you are a soldier. We all work for the society, so you don't have to envy me, and I don't have to envy you. I'm afraid I did something wrong, so I'm sorry about the food I ate this day. So when I do this, I won't be distracted at all Ceng Wenzheng (18) said: "Sitting on this mountain and looking at that mountain will accomplish nothing." I once saw a book written by a French scholar, which compared the nature of British and French nationals. He said, "when I went to the British office, I only saw them immersed in their pens and doing their things;" When I went to the French office, I only saw them holding cigarettes, as if lost in thought. English people stare at their eyes when they walk, as if they were absorbed in walking; The French always look around when they walk, as if they don't take it seriously. "Whether these words are accurate or not, not to mention; But adding a footnote to the word dedication is still useful. If, as he said, the British are respectful and the French are not. If a person doesn't respect his profession, then from an academic point of view, it is blaspheming (19) the sanctity of his profession; In fact, you must have done something bad and ended up hurting yourself. Therefore, major is the most needed and beneficial to life. Zhuangzi said: "We are not divided by ambition, but United in God (20). Confucius said, "Go where you are, not outside (2 1). "The dedication mentioned is nothing more than these reasons.
The second is to be happy. "Hard work!" This kind of sighing voice, no matter who it is, will often be revealed in the mouth. But I want to ask him, "It's hard to work, isn't it hard not to work?" It's such a hot day today, I'm shouting my throat out here, and you people are all pulling your ears. Some people look at us so seriously; On the other hand, if we go gambling and drinking, aren't we still trying to find God and work hard? Not bitter? You should know that all emotions are subjective, not objective. Life lasts from the moment you are born to the moment you die. You can't put your limbs and five senses aside except sleeping. As long as you use it, you are either fascinated or laborious, and hard work is always inevitable. People who can use abacus (23) can only find happiness from hard work. I think the first-class miserable people in the world are unemployed people who wander around all day and don't know where to put their bodies and minds. Their lives are really miserable. Second-class people are those who hate their jobs. They obviously want to do it, but they are full of reluctance to do it. Can you run if you don't want to do it? You can't. The result is still frowning and sad to do it. Isn't this a joke to yourself? I'll tell you the truth: "Every profession is interesting. As long as you are willing to continue to do it, interest will naturally arise. " Why? First, because every profession always has many layers of fatigue (24) and twists and turns, it is the most intimate and interesting if you can get into it and see its change and progress. Second, because the achievements of every profession are inseparable from struggle; Strive forward step by step, and increase the weight of happiness from your efforts. Third, professionalism, often compared with people in the same industry (25), like a ball game, because of the pleasure of winning. Fourth, when you concentrate on a career, you put an end to many wandering thoughts and delusions and save yourself from infinite leisure and boredom. Confucius said, "Knowing is not as good as being kind, and being kind is not as good as being happy (26)." Life is valuable only when you can appreciate interest in your career. Confucius told his life and said, "He is also a human being. He forgot to eat when he was angry, but forgot to worry when he was happy. He doesn't know that he will come to Yuner (27) in his later years. " This kind of life is really an ideal life for human beings.
There are two sentences that have benefited me the most in my life: one is "responsibility" and the other is "fun". I often strive for the realization and reconciliation of these two sentences myself, and I often impose these two sentences on my friends (28). Today, dedication is responsibility and pleasure is fun. I firmly believe that a reasonable human life should be like this, and I hope you can enjoy it with me!
