The Plot Structure of Joseph's Magical Dress
First act

This story is played by a storyteller. She (usually a woman) began to tell the story of Yue Se, which was recorded in Genesis. She told the children (actors or listeners) to have the courage to dream, because there was once a man whose dream came true. The story begins with Jacob and his extended family of 12 sons. 10 Brothers are very jealous of their younger brother: Yue Se, especially the beautiful colorful clothes his father gave him. Obviously, his father has a special preference for Yue Se. To make matters worse, Yue Se often tells his dreams that one day, he will accept the bows of other brothers. Therefore, the two brothers decided to get rid of Yue Se in case his dream came true, so they sold Yue Se to the Ishmaelites as slaves and took him to Egypt. When the two brothers came home, they lied that Yue Se was killed by a wild animal. They used tattered and bloody colored clothes as evidence to tell Jacob the bad news and advised him not to be too sad. In Egypt, Yue Se was sold to Potiphar, a rich man, to manage the house. However, Potiphar's wife kept seducing Yue Se and Yue Se kept resisting, but Potiphar heard the noise and ran into their intimate behavior, so he angrily sent Yue Se to prison. Yue Se was very depressed in prison, but he still used his ability to help his cellmate, Pharaoh's chef and housekeeper interpret dreams, and finally it was as he expected.

Act ii

At this time, the storyteller continued to tell stories, and Yue Se's fate was about to change. Because at this time, Pharaoh had a strange dream, and no one in Egypt could explain it. At this time, Pharaoh's housekeeper suddenly thought of Yue Se's ability, so Yue Se was taken out to interpret dreams for Pharaoh. Pharaoh told a story about seven fat cows and seven thin cows, and seven lush and dry corn trees. Yue Se explained: This means that Egypt will have seven bumper years and seven famine years. Pharaoh appreciated this explanation very much, and immediately asked Yue Se to handle political affairs and reserve food to spend the famine years, so Yue Se became Pharaoh's right-hand man, ranking second only to Pharaoh in Egypt. Back home, Yue Se found his brothers starving in the famine and regretted cheating their father. They heard that Egypt stored a lot of food, so they set off together to beg in Egypt. Yue Se gave them food and planned to send them home, but secretly put a gold cup in the bag of their youngest brother Benjamin. When they left, Yue Se stopped them and accused them of stealing the golden cup. But Yue Se found the gold cup in Benjamin's bag, and the other brothers begged Yue Se to let Benjamin go. Yue Se knew that their brother was different, so he recognized them and took their father Jacob back to Egypt. The musical styles of this play are very diverse, including the French folk song "Days of Canaan", the imitation of Elvis Presley's rock "Song of Pharaoh", and come on! Yue Se added a lot of interest to the play. The tracks in the play are as follows:
