Gentlemen and villains are rare around us. There are more people like us who are neither gentlemen nor villains. Of course, there are two types of people that should also be included, one is a hypocrite and a real villain, and the other is a hypocrite and a real gentleman. Nowadays, people are living in the cracks, and life is not easy for any kind of people.
Being a gentleman is too hard, and most of the people who suffer and are deceived are this kind of people. "Mencius: Wan Zhang 1" tells a story: Someone gave a fish to Mr. Zichan, and Zichan put it in the pond to feed. As a result, the servants cooked the fish and ate it, and then said to Mr. Zichan, "This is The fish was originally placed in the water, but it was swimming and suddenly disappeared. The lovely Mr. Zichan kept saying: "It's in its right place, it's in its right place." This means that the fish went to where it should go. Therefore, the great Mr. Mencius gave this matter a final word: "A gentleman can be deceived."
The sage said: A gentleman is magnanimous, but a villain is always worried. Gentlemen and villains are inherently incompatible, and they are a life-and-death struggle. Good thing now, a gentleman must be magnanimous, which means that a gentleman cannot be as knowledgeable as a villain. In addition, how can a gentleman who sticks to his roots, is prudent about independence, and is not party-minded fight against villains who are good at power and are good at forming parties for personal gain?
Since a gentleman can be deceived, if you are with a gentleman, you will inevitably suffer from some cowardice. As a result, consciously or unconsciously, no one has anything to do with the gentleman, and over time, the gentleman becomes a loner.
Let’s look at those mediocre villains. Most of these people have no real talents, but they are proud of their ability to talk salted fish into swimming. There is an old Chinese saying that to learn to do things, you must first learn to be a human being. But what is the reality? Since ancient times, those who know how to do things are not as good as those who know how to be a person. Those who run into obstacles and go through ups and downs must be honest and selfless gentlemen;
Looking through the classics of Chinese history, the sages and sages are all teaching people how to behave, but it is rare to see people teaching people how to do things. It seems that this is also used to show the world that as long as you can be a good person, you will not have to worry about not having a bright future.
A gentleman makes great achievements in the front, but there are always cold shots coming from behind. No matter how great his ability is, he cannot be like a fire in the backyard. But a villain only needs a flattering smile, a slander, and a flattery to overcome all the hardships of a gentleman.
A gentleman will get into trouble at the slightest disagreement, while a villain is good at pretending to keep his face. When we offend a gentleman, we still know why we offended and how to repair it. Offending villains often makes us feel like we are falling into the clouds and foggy mountains, and we are puzzled. When you offend a gentleman, you make a friend instead. A gentleman only accepts justice and does not hold grudges. He leaves no trace after the incident. If you offend a villain, you will have a group of enemies, and there will be no peace for a moment. Therefore, there is a saying that it is better to offend a gentleman than a villain.
It is better to offend a gentleman than to offend a villain. This is due to the nature of people to bully the weak and fear of the strong, and the habitual psychology of clinging to the dragon and the phoenix. However, when all this becomes habit and nature, moral reconstruction becomes an inevitable choice.
