Translation of "Book of Enlightenment": Tolerance is the virtue of good family relations. Haven't you heard of Mencius's "Three Self-Reflections"? If you must fight to win, you are a very stupid person and you are asking for trouble. How can I live with people of the same mind as me? Whenever you encounter adversity, you can increase your knowledge and insight. Mencius's words "born from sorrow" and "lived from dysentery" are all wise words.

Original text of "Book of Enlightenment": Tolerance is a virtue at home. If you don’t listen to Mencius’ words, are you going to rebel against yourself? If you insist on fighting to win, you are being foolish and looking for trouble. In this life, can I get along with those who have the same mind as me? Whenever you encounter a difficult situation, you can master knowledge and insight. Mencius said "born out of sorrow" and "existed out of malaria".

Wu Rulun was relatively open-minded and advocated the study of Western learning. When he was teaching at Lianchi Academy, he specially hired English and Japanese teachers. He also wrote prefaces to Yan Fu's translation of Tianyan Lun, Yuan Fu, and various works by American and Japanese scholars, advocating enlightenment.

He loves to discuss with Western celebrities and scholars, exchange new ideas and new science, and believes that "without real ability, it is not enough to compete with outsiders." Wu Rulun has devoted his life to education and is well versed in the laws of education.
