Maugham's Introduction:
William Sa William Somerset Maugham (English: William Somerset Maugham, January 25, 1874 - December 16, 1965) was a famous British novelist, playwright, and essayist. Maugham was originally a medical student, but later turned to writing. His articles often contain pity and sympathy for human nature hidden in the sarcasm.
