1. Wang Xizhi practiced calligraphy diligently
When Wang Xizhi was 13 years old, he accidentally discovered a calligraphy book "Shuo Bi" in his father's possession, so he stole it and read it. His father was worried that he would not be able to keep the family heritage secret at a young age and promised to teach it to him when he grew up. Unexpectedly, Wang Xizhi knelt down and asked his father to allow him to read now. His father was very moved and finally agreed to his request.
Wang Xizhi practiced calligraphy very hard, even eating and walking. He really practiced calligraphy all the time. Without pen and paper, he just scratched on his body. Over time, his clothes were scratched.
Sometimes I practice calligraphy to the point of forgetfulness. Once, when he was practicing calligraphy, he forgot to eat. When his family brought the meal to the study, he dipped it in ink and ate it without thinking, and found it very delicious. When the family found out, their mouths were full of black ink.
Wang Xizhi often wrote in the pond and washed his inkstones in the pond. After a long time, the water in the pond ran out of ink, so it was called "Mochi". Nowadays, there are scenic spots called "Mochi" in Shaoxing Lanting, Zhejiang Yongjia Xigushi Mountain, Lushan Guizong Temple and other places.
2. Sima Guang smashed the vat
Once, Sima Guang and his friends were playing in the backyard. There was a large water tank in the yard. A child climbed up to the edge of the tank to play and accidentally fell into the tank. The water in the tank was so big that the child was almost submerged. When the other children saw that something had happened, they were so frightened that they cried and shouted and ran outside to ask adults for help.
Sima Guang was so anxious that he picked up a big stone from the ground and threw it at the water tank. "Bang!" The water tank broke and the water flowed out, and the child was drowned in the water. Also saved. The little Sima Guang is calm and collected in situations, and he has always looked like a little adult since he was a child.
This is the story of "Sima Guang smashed the vat" that has been passed down to this day. This accidental incident made little Sima Guang famous. Someone in Tokyo and Luoyang painted the incident into a picture and spread it widely.
3. Wang Mian studies
Wang Mian is from Zhuji County. When he was seven or eight years old, his father asked him to herd cattle on the field. He secretly ran into the school to listen to the students reading. After listening to it, I always remember it silently. When he returned home in the evening, he forgot all about the cattle grazing. Someone came to Wang Mian's house with Wang Mian's cattle, blaming the unattended cattle for trampling on his family's fields.
Wang Mian's father was furious and whipped Wang Mian. Afterwards, he was still like this. His mother said: "This child is so obsessed with studying, why not let him do it?" From then on, Wang Mian left home and lived in a temple. As soon as night came, he would quietly come out and sit on the lap of the Buddha statue. He held a book in his hand and read under the light of the lantern in front of the Buddha statue. The sound of the book continued until dawn.
It seems that most of the statues are made of clay, and their faces are ferocious and terrifying. Although Wang Mian was a child, his expression was calm, as if he had not seen it.
4. Chiseling the wall to borrow light
Kuang Heng was diligent and studious, but there was no candle lighting at home. There were candles in the neighbor's house, but the light couldn't shine into his home, so Kuang Heng cut a hole in the wall to attract the light from the neighbor's house, so that the light could shine on the books for reading. There was a rich man named Wen Bu Shi from a wealthy family in his hometown. He was a rich man and had many books at home. Kuang Heng went to his house to work as a hired worker without any reward.
The master felt very strange and asked him why he was like this. He said: "I hope to get your book and read it through." After hearing this, the master sighed deeply and lent him the book to read. So Kuang Heng became a great scholar.
5. Chen Yi eats ink
Chen Yi liked reading very much when he was a child.
One time, when he was reading a book, his mother brought pancakes and sesame sauce and asked him to eat them with dipping. He was reading and eating cake. There was a big ink cartridge on the desk. He actually dipped the cake into the ink cartridge and ate it deliciously every bite. When his mother walked into the house and saw his mouth full of ink, she screamed in surprise. Only then did he realize that what he was dipping in was not sesame paste, but ink.
My mother blamed him and pulled him to rinse his mouth distressedly.
But he smiled and said: "It doesn't matter! It's good to eat some ink. There is still too little 'ink' in my stomach!"
