Why did Wu Song lose heart and decide to become a monk in Liuhe Temple?
The Water Margin is the first chapter-style novel with the theme of peasant uprising in Chinese history. The author is Shi Naian in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. Its prototype is the peasant uprising led by Song Jiang, a Shandong native at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty. Wu Song had two brothers. One was sincere to him, but the other stabbed him in the back, which made him a monk.
Wu Dalang is Wu Song's own brother, who comes from a poor family, is kind-hearted, hard-working, loves his brother and is simple. Wu Song's parents died early, because Wu Dalang took the responsibility of taking care of the family, supported the family by selling cooking cakes, and treated Wu Song very well.
But it's a pity that Wu Dalang met a wife of easy virtue named Pan Jinlian, a typical coquettish, lewd and vicious woman, who had an affair with others and killed Wu Dalang because of her downfall. Wu Song was deeply saddened by the news of his brother's death, and found out the truth through his own efforts, killing Pan Jinlian and Ximen Qing to avenge his brother.
Song Jiang is Wu Song's sworn brother. This person and Song Jiang met in Chai Jin's home, and they both came because of killing people and fleeing, so they have the same language and became brothers of the opposite sex. Later, Wu Song and Song Jiang went to Liangshan together. With this relationship, nature helped each other.
It is precisely because of this that Wu Song unswervingly walked on the road of establishing Song Jiang as the leader. However, Song Jiang did not treat Wu Song with sincerity. At the meeting of harness, Wu Song and Song Jiang had different views, and thus drifted away. Although Wu Song worked for Song Jiang, he lacked sincerity.
In World War I in Fang La, Wu Song's arm was cut off and he became a cripple. When Song Jiang saw Wu Song like this, he thought that he had lost his use value, because he should have been caring and attentive, but he made such hurtful remarks: "Although he is immortal, he has become a waste."
"basket case" is a denial of a person's ability and a mental injury to a capable person, and this sentence, uttered from Song Jiang's mouth, made Wu Song feel even more uncomfortable. It is precisely because of this that when he returned to Beijing to receive his reward, Wu Song was disheartened and decided to become a monk in Liuhe Temple. Later, Song Jiang was poisoned, while Wu Song escaped death and lived to be in his eighties, which was considered as every cloud has a silver lining.
If we look at Song Jiang's behavior from another angle, maybe he knew that he might face misfortune after returning to Beijing, so he pushed his good brother away in advance and started fighting with himself with bad words. Let them leave themselves one after another and don't die with them.
But Ximen Qing and Pan Jinlian really deserve to be killed by Wu Song to avenge their death. Wu Dalang is kind-hearted, hardworking and simple. Such a good person met Pan Jinlian, easy virtue's wife, who had an affair and killed her husband. It is really scum.
