Joined the workforce in 1950 and served successively as a worker at the Shanghai Huafeng Type Mold Factory. He also participated in the literary creation workshop of the Shanghai Workers’ Cultural Palace. Later, he was transferred to Children's Publishing House as editor, director of the editorial office of "Children", deputy editor-in-chief of "Children's Poems" series, and deputy editor-reviewer.

In 1998, he joined the Chinese Writers Association and the Writers and Artists Association.
