The concept and main application of field investigation;
First, the concept:
The field investigation method of scientific anthropology was put forward by Malinowski, a representative of the British functional school. Aw Kasper Malinowski), a famous sociologist in China, Mr. Fei Xiaotong has made outstanding achievements in this respect.
One of its most important research methods is to participate in observation. It requires investigators to live with the respondents for a period of time, from which they can observe, understand and know their society and culture.
The ideal state of field work is that the investigator has lived in the investigated area for more than two years and mastered the language of the investigated person, which is conducive to in-depth research and interpretation of the culture of the investigated person.
The traditional field investigation method is time-consuming and laborious, and the cost is high. If the method is not used properly, its reliability and validity will be greatly reduced.
Second, the main application of field investigation:
Field investigation is mainly used in the research of natural science and social science, such as anthropology, ethnology, folklore, archaeology, biology, ecology, environmental science, ethnomusicology, geography, geology, geophysics, linguistics, paleontology and sociology. Its English name is Field work.
