Strive for balance in life Strive for balance in life
by Brain Dyson Brian Dyson (President of The Coca-Cola Company)
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them----work, family, health, friends and spirit and you're keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop one it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls—family, health, friends, and spirit—are made of glass. If you drop one of those, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same.
You must understand that and strive for balance in your life. How?
Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.
Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
Don 't take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as they were your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time you live ALL the days of your life.
Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
Don't be afraid to admit that
you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us to each together.
Don't be afraid to encourage risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly, and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going.
Don't forget , a person's greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.
Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.
Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.
Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is gift... that's why we call it the present.
Imagine life is a game of throwing five balls in the air. You name these five balls: work, family, friends, and soul, and you want to Try not to let them fall to the ground. You quickly learn that work is like a rubber ball, and if you drop it, it will bounce back. But the four balls of family, health, friends and soul are made of glass. If you let them drop, they will inevitably become scuffed, marked, scratched, broken, or even shattered. They will never be the same.
You must understand this and strive to maintain a balance in your life. But how?
Don’t devalue yourself by comparing yourself to others. It is precisely because we are different from each other that everyone is special.
Don’t set your goals because of what others value. Only you know what's best for you.
Don’t take the people closest to you for granted. Cherish them as if they are your life, because without them, life will lose its meaning.
Don’t let your life always pass by dwelling on the past or thinking about the future. If you live in every moment, you will live a wonderful life.
Don’t give up while you can still give. As long as you don't give up, anything is possible.
Don’t be afraid to admit you’re not perfect. It is through this fragile thread that we are closely connected.
Don’t be afraid of danger. It is through adventure that we learn to be brave.
Don’t use the difficulty of finding true love as an excuse to close your heart. The fastest way to find love is to give your love; the fastest way to lose love is to hold on to your love; the best way to maintain love is to give it a pair of wings.
Don’t rush through your life so fast that you forget where you have been and where you are going.
Don’t be afraid to learn. Knowledge will not be a burden, it is a treasure you can easily carry.
Don’t waste your time carelessly or talk nonsense. Time and words cannot be taken back.
Life is not a race, but a journey that needs to be savored every step of the way. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is unknown, and today is a gift: that’s why we call it the present.
