In fact, the most authentic and original title of "social meal" should be "silly meal". I wrote it as a written "social meal" to make it easy for readers from other provinces and even foreign countries to understand.
Eating "social meals" is a unique custom in Miao Village, Fenghuang Township, Xiangxi, my hometown. "Social dinner" is also a unique food culture in western Hunan. "Social meal" has existed since ancient times, and it is a kind of food provided by Tujia, Miao and Dong minorities in China.
Eating "social dinner" is mainly held on social day (the fifth day after beginning of spring), which is called "meeting later" and "stopping meeting" in folk customs. May Day belongs to the earth, so this day is a day to worship the earth bodhisattva. People pray for a smooth New Year, a bumper harvest and family harmony.
The cooking method of commune rice is different from ordinary rice. First of all, go to the corner of the garden or the stream on the hillside to pick fresh and tender social vegetables, a kind of weeds, wash and chop them up, rub bitter water on a slate or bamboo dustpan, then put them in a pot to dry and stir-fry them with chopped bacon.
Secondly, according to the method of three to one, two-thirds of the glutinous rice is cooked to half-cooked, then one-third of the glutinous rice is poured into the pot and cooked with the glutinous rice, then the fried social vegetables are put into the pot and stirred evenly, and the pot is covered for half an hour.
The social dishes made in this way have three flavors: rice flavor, meat flavor and vegetable flavor. After eating this kind of rice, people's appetite increases greatly, and they want to eat a second bowl after eating one bowl ... People will be stupid after eating your brain, so it's called silly rice.
Especially the crispy rice crust with bacon oil at the bottom of the pot is wonderful. Two pieces of rice crust with radish sour granules or other sauerkraut, you bite it down. It smells good! Modern people call it "awesome"!

I have been away from home for many years and cook dinner almost every year. A vagrant's "social meal" in a foreign country is like this:
1. Authentic diced bacon with skin, brought back from my hometown and given by my friend years later.
2. It's best to eat sauerkraut social meal in Xiangxi. There is a famous saying in Xiangxi: if you don't eat sour for a day, you will walk to salvage (unstable meaning).
3. Or stir-fry some bean sprouts. It is best to fry with vinegar. Tired of its hot and sour taste, the reason is self-evident.
4. Hu Cong, which is unique to Shan Ye in western Hunan, can't be found here, so we have to "use domestic onions as wild onions".
5. Dicing wild onions or domestic onions is the best.
6. Baked "social food" brought by hometown. A wild wormwood. This wild plant in Guangdong is not hard to find, and it is called Artemisia argyi. But it is a difficult technical job to wash, knead and chop, and then slowly dry it with big fire and small fire. Don't do it without patience.
7. Stir-fry diced bacon in the pan first. Stir-fry all the oil in the diced meat, and the meat is bright.
8. Bake chopped vegetables with bacon.
9. The minced vegetables and bacon are permeated with each other, and the fragrance is overflowing.
10. Wash two thirds of the glutinous rice and put it in the pot.

12. fry bacon directly in a large wok, and bring the water to a boil.
13. Cook the glutinous rice first. Then put the glutinous rice into the pot.
14. Keep stirring to avoid sticking to the pan. When the water is boiled, the rice soup can be drained.
15. When I was a child, I stayed at the kitchen table like this, waiting for the thick rice soup from my mother to taste better than milk.
16. Keep turning to make it heated evenly.
17. Add fried diced bacon and social food.
18. Stir thoroughly and evenly. This is a skill and hard work.
19. Add shallots or diced shallots and mix well. You can put a little salt in it.

One thing: as the saying goes, one side of the soil and water will support one side. Because of geographical restrictions, social meals cooked away from home have improved, but they remain unchanged.
