Tolkien was born in bloemfontein. At the age of 4, his family moved back to England because of his father's death. 1915 At the age of 23, Tolkien graduated from Oxford University in England and participated in the First World War. Tolkien stayed in the hospital until the end of the war because of trench fever. It was during these days in the hospital that he began his initial writing career.
After the war, Tolkien became a linguist. He is the editorial board of the New English Dictionary (19 18-1920). But he is more famous for his study of Anglo-Saxon, which makes him widely exposed to myths and folklore circulating in Britain and northern Europe.
1937, Tolkien finished his first work The Hobbit. Although this is a fairy tale, it is also suitable for adults to read. Because this work sells well, the publisher (Allen &; Unwin) persuaded Tolkien to write a sequel. This prompted Tolkien to complete his most famous work, the epic trilogy The Lord of the Rings. The writing of this work lasted for nearly a year and was supported by Tolkien's close friend C. S.Lewis.
The Lord of the Rings's beginning was similar to children's works, but after that, his writing style quickly became serious and dark. The Lord of the Rings is one of the most popular literary works in the 20th century in terms of sales volume and readers' comments. Tolkien's important influence is that after The Lord of the Rings's success, fantasy novels developed rapidly.
