The masterpiece of Kamamsten, Sweden
Karl malm Stein's 1930s was a crucial period for Sweden to form its own unique design style. Functionalism prevailed in northern Europe after the war, but not all Nordic designers accepted this pure German functionalism. Karl malm Stein was one of the designers who strongly opposed functionalism at that time. He hopes that his furniture design can bring warm and comfortable feeling, not just function. In his view, feeling beauty is a human right, but pure functionalism wants to deprive this right, so he has to fight for it through his own design. Karl malm Stein studied many paintings by the painter Karl Lasso. Most of Karl Larso's paintings depict family life in Sweden at that time. Inspired by this, Carl Malmsten is rooted in Swedish culture and uses organic lines to design comfortable and beautiful furniture works. As a result, he also created a new design method, realizing the balance of Swedish handicraft tradition, individuality and functionalism. Together with the famous designers Bruno Mathsson and Josef Frank, he created a real Swedish design style-flexible functionalism. For this reason, Karl malm Stein also won the title of "Father of Swedish Modern Furniture Design". Karl malm has devoted his life to furniture and handicrafts. Even after the death of malm Stein in 1972, there are still more than 10000 design manuscripts that have not been realized. His influence on Swedish design continues to this day. "We are still making Karl malm Stein's design, but we will cooperate with Karl malm Stein Furniture Research Company and cappella? The designers of the two schools in rden jointly completed it. " Said malm Stein, the grandson of Karl malm Stein and now the chairman of malm Steinbutikon brand. Malmstenbutiken is a furniture brand named after Carl Malmsten's design. It still continues the tradition of Karl Malmsten, and integrates the functionality and artistry of objects into furniture design through handicrafts. All products are produced in Sweden and made by the best craftsmen. "Today, about 20% of all Malmstenbutiken's products are handmade, and the rest are produced in some furniture factories in Sweden." Karl malm Stein Furniture Research and Capelag? Rden is the two most famous design schools founded by Carl Malmsten. In the autumn of 2000, Karl Malmsten's furniture research became a department of Lin Xueping University in Sweden, but Kapelag? Rden remains independent. 1957 Karl malm Stein? Verkler, a small village on land, bought an abandoned farm. After that, he decorated the farm carefully and turned it into a community. This is alpaca? Rden. Carl Malmsten once said, "Let young people who are keen on integrating function and beauty into their handicrafts gather here. This is a school dedicated to the spirit and soul of craftsmen. " Cappella? Rden is more like a community than a school. Surrounded by all kinds of flowers and plants, the environment is very quiet. Designers have their own classes in the morning or do their own design. At noon, everyone gets together to eat and chat. Cappella today? Rden is not managed by Jerk Malmsten, but by a non-profit foundation. Providing accommodation, young designers all over the world can apply for this school. But for these applications, the school is strictly controlled: "mainly look at their works, and then look at their reasons for applying to this school." Cappella? Agneta Bolin Bjerkman, the current principal of rden, said, "It is very important for teachers here to keep the student team diversified, including different regions, different backgrounds and different experiences." Cappella? The education that rden attaches most importance to is to let students really understand handicrafts and various materials. This was Carl Malmsten's original idea, and in his words, it was "the hand and heart in vital collaboration". Studying here is more like a trip, but how far you can explore depends on yourself. Jerk Malmsten said that in Sweden, it is easy for designers to create a temporary sensation, but the problem is how to keep developing: "You need to keep developing and create new things. Generally speaking, Swedes quickly adapt to new needs and new materials. " In his view, young designers should be sensitive to the world while developing constantly: "It is very important for you to know what is happening in this world, but the most important thing is that you have confidence and listen to yourself. If you can really express yourself, you will be a good designer. " Karl malm's furniture research has become a department of Lin Xueping University.
