Reflections after reading "The Story of Diligence and Study"
There is a book that I never tire of reading, and it also made me understand a lot of truths. The name of this book is " The Story of Diligence and Learning". This book records the stories of many famous people studying hard, such as: Darwin, Liu Gongquan, Gorky, Haydn? Here, I will tell you about one of them: I believe everyone knows Helen Keller, right? She is a famous female writer in the United States. She suffered a serious illness when she was a child, which made her blind and lost her hearing. When Helen was seven years old, her parents hired a teacher to help her learn. But Helen couldn’t see or hear, so how could she learn? So the teacher thought of a way: first give her a doll to play with, and then write the word doll on the palm of her hand, so that Helen would know what a doll is. Therefore, Helen quickly fell in love with this method of learning. From then on, Helen used this method to learn. She memorized words one by one. Over time, she learned a lot of words. You can think about it, as a deaf and blind child, what difficulties did Helen have to overcome? But she was not afraid of difficulties, studied and lived with amazing perseverance, and finally became a world-famous writer.
When it comes to not being afraid of difficulties, I’m not that great. Once, when I was in kindergarten, I was about to learn to ride a bicycle. When I was riding the first lap, I accidentally broke my knee and it started to bleed. I was so scared that I cried loudly. When it comes to learning to ride a bicycle, I just don’t learn it because I’m afraid of the difficulties. Not to mention riding, I don't even dare to touch a bicycle. oh! That bike was scrapped. Until my mother bought me this book "The Story of Diligence and Study". After reading the story in it, I felt that there is no reason why being a human being is not difficult at all. Wouldn't it be boring if everything went smoothly? So, I pestered my mother to buy me another bicycle and promised her: "I must learn to ride a bicycle this time." When I was learning, it was very difficult. I broke my knees at least a few times. Ten times (not dozens but dozens of times!) But I didn’t care, I thought to myself: I must learn it this time! Don’t give up halfway! I finally succeeded! Now I can ride my beloved bicycle and ride around the campus. It’s so cool!
