In the 13th year of Zhenyuan in Tang Dezong (AD 797), Meng Jiao went to Beijing to take another Jinshi exam. This time, he was a scholar, and at this time, he was 46 years old. He happily wrote a quatrain of "After Graduating", expressing his happy mood at that time:
In the past, it was not enough to boast, but now it is boundless to be generous;
spring breeze is proud of horseshoe disease, and you can see all the Chang 'an flowers in one day.
The meaning of this poem is: There is nothing to boast about the poor and embarrassed life in the past. Today, I joined the Jinshi in high school, and I really feel the majesty. I rode happily in the spring breeze, and I saw all the beautiful scenery of Chang 'an in one day. This poem vividly shows the poet's joy after winning the Jinshi, in which "spring breeze is proud of horseshoe disease, and Chang 'an flowers are seen in one day" has become a famous sentence throughout the ages. "The spring breeze is triumphant" originally refers to the smug mood of the scholar after taking the exam, but now it generally describes the smug mood after things are done successfully and the purpose is achieved.
