In order to "actively cultivate a team of architects with international vision and national self-confidence", and to commend and reward architects, architectural theorists and architectural educators who have made great achievements and outstanding contributions in the field of architecture, the awarding ceremony of Liang Sicheng's architectural award on 20 16 was held in Tsinghua University on May 17, 2007. Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Chen attended the award ceremony and delivered a speech.

Liang Sicheng Architectural Award, sponsored by China Architectural Society and supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, China Association for Science and Technology and International Association of Architects, is regarded as the highest award in the field of architecture, aiming at encouraging architects to exert their innovative spirit, prosper architectural creation and cast the brand of "China Design".

In 20 16, the China Architecture Society and the International Association of Architects formally signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on Liang Sicheng's Architecture Award, which made Liang Sicheng's Architecture Award among the international awards in the field of architecture, and thus became the only "international award" recognized and supported by the international industry authority among more than 200 societies of China Association for Science and Technology.

20 16 Liang Sicheng Award for Architecture opened the curtain of deep integration between China architecture and international architecture, and opened the door for international architecture to understand China.

In the 20 16 Liang Sicheng Architectural Award, the selection committee composed of three internationally renowned architects and six academicians of China Academy of Engineering, and the observer team composed of UIA Competition Committee, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and China Association for Science and Technology participated in and witnessed the whole process, which reflected the international vision and authoritative position of Liang Sicheng Architectural Award. In the end, Kenneth King Munyang (Yang Jingwen), a Malaysian architect and the founder of eco-architecture theory, the flag figures of green and eco-architecture design, and Zhou Kai, a China architect, won the 20 16 Liang Sicheng Architecture Award for respecting the environment, upholding the concept of "integration" and advocating simple construction costs. Gustas, former president of the International Architectural Association, commented: "Liang Sicheng's architectural award shows a new spirit of opening to the world and is becoming the same as the international top architectural award."
