I still remember that when I was studying at Xuzhou Normal University, I got to know Mr. Tao Xingzhi from books. One of his famous sayings, "Come with a heart and leave without a blade of grass" was hung in the corridor of the school. Now I read Mr. Tao Xingzhi's "Tao Xingzhi's Famous Works on Education" and combine it with my own teaching practice to experience it. It feels different from when I was a student.
"Tao Xingzhi's Famous Works on Education" brings together the essence of Mr. Tao Xingzhi's lifelong teaching research and practice, and embodies Mr. Tao Xingzhi's teaching research and practice from various aspects such as "teaching unity" and "student autonomy". The unique educational ideas of "life is education" and "unity of knowledge and action".
1. Teacher ethics training materials
Mr. Tao’s ardent expectations for good teachers can be seen everywhere in his works. "Thousands of teachings teach people to seek truth, and thousands of studies teach them to be real people." He raised four questions about teachers' own growth, called "Four Questions Every Day." Morality is the foundation of being a human being. "If the foundation is bad, even if you have some knowledge and skills, it will be of little use." "Four Questions Every Day" provides people with a reference for improving morality and cultivating their careers. It can be used as a mirror to check themselves at all times. It can be seen that everyone has made great progress in physical health, knowledge, work efficiency, and moral character, showing that progress comes naturally.
As a young teacher, "If you want to teach others to seek truth, you must first teach yourself to seek truth, true knowledge, true skills, and true morality." As the saying goes: "Live until you are old. Learn as you learn. "Today's society is changing with each passing day, and we are surrounded by changes all the time. A person with a strong sense of mission should have a sense of crisis. How can we keep up with the times without being eliminated by society? There is only one answer, and that is to be enterprising and work hard to learn. "Study, study, study, learn what others don't know and what others cannot... We must humbly learn from everyone, learn from teachers, learn from the public, learn from children, learn from friends, learn from nature, and learn from nature. To study sociology, you need to be both professional and knowledgeable."
2. Education in life
"Life is education" is the core of Tao Xingzhi's life education theory. . What is "life education"? Tao Xingzhi pointed out: "Life education is the education that is original to life, is self-supporting for life, and is necessary for life. The fundamental meaning of education is the change of life. Life never changes, that is, life has no changes. It does not contain the meaning of education. "Since life education is original to human society, then life is education. The so-called "what you live is what you receive; living a good life is receiving a good education." A bad life is a bad education." He also pointed out, "Life education is something we are born with, and we die with it. We are born with enlightenment; we graduate only when we enter the coffin." Life education emphasizes that education should be life-centered, and opposes traditional education that is book-centered. It believes that education that is not life-centered is dead education. Life education is produced on the basis of criticizing traditional education for being divorced from the reality of life, and is the opposite of pure knowledge education.
3. Teaching "students to learn"
"Teaching and doing are one", which believes that a good teacher does not teach or teach students, but teaches students to learn. He gave a vivid analogy in the book: To swim, you must swim in the water; to learn to swim, you must learn in the water. If you don't go into the water, you can just read swimming books on the shore and do the swimming movements. Even if you have learned the swimming movements for a lifetime, you will still sink when you go into the water. The same is true for students' learning. If they only learn the knowledge in the book but don't know how to apply it in practice, even if they memorize the contents of the book backwards and forwards, what's the use? Therefore, teachers should not only teach students the knowledge in books, but also teach students how to learn and how to use it.
Teaching requires teachers to be responsible for guidance on the one hand, and students to be responsible for learning on the other.
For a problem, the teacher does not need to teach the students all the ready-made solutions, but the process of how to find the solution should be organized and guided to the students so that the students can solve the problem themselves in the shortest time and through similar experiences. Find out the method and be able to use this experience to find other methods and solve other problems. With this experience, students can explore knowledge on their own and become active learners. Teachers should continue to research in order to find new principles from time to time. Only by being tireless in learning can they be tireless in teaching.
"Teaching is one thing, not three things. We must teach by doing and learn by doing. Teachers teach by doing, which is true teaching; students learn by doing, which is practical learning. "If you don't put effort into doing, you won't be able to teach, and you won't be able to learn." Mr. Tao said so well. Nowadays, the life circle of students is relatively narrow, but now is the era of information explosion. Their ability to receive information is very strong, and their extracurricular knowledge is very rich. Because they are young and cannot apply the knowledge they know to practical activities, this requires teachers to teach by "doing" and encourage students to learn by "doing" and carry out extensive hands-on operations and practical activities outside the classroom. It starts from "doing" to promote enthusiasm and initiative in both "teaching" and "learning".
When you choose education, you choose dedication. Some people compare teachers to gardeners, "A gardener's dream is often the fragrance of flowers and the shade of leaves; a teacher's dream is often a sweet smile and the sound of books." "True education is an activity of heart-to-heart communication. Only when it comes from the heart can it reach the depths of the soul. "Without love, there is no education. "If you put your life in the lives of your students, and put your and your students' lives in the lives of the public, then you have fulfilled your bounden duty as a teacher." As a young teacher, I will always remember Tao Mr. Tao’s teachings constantly update his own educational concepts. Taking Mr. Tao’s theory as the guiding ideology, he guides students to learn excellent skills, so that students can develop their qualities in an all-round way and become useful talents with innovative spirit and ability.
