The characteristics of the six schools of magic hunters are as follows:
School of the Wolf
The school of wolves where the protagonist Geralt belongs is the most well-known one. The Wolf School is considered to be the most direct successor of the Magic Hunters' Sect in the past, and its members are moderate in political inclination, insisting that magic hunters should not be involved in any political struggle.
During the period when the order was divided, the pioneers of the Wolf School were the last people to leave. They moved to the northern part of Cordwin and built a fortress (Kyle Mohan) in the mountains to rest and train new people.
The Wolf School pays more attention to the balance between speed and endurance in its fighting style, and it has no fancy skills to show off. Instead, it relies on solid fencing and French-Indian attacks to constantly find the flaws of its opponents.
school of the cat
the founders of the cat school were the first members to leave the cult of the devil hunters. While being criticized by the world, they witnessed the decline of the cult. These young people were disgusted with the old and conservative rules of the cult and chose to leave quietly.
In this process, they tried to take away the instruments and materials needed for the mutation test of the demon hunters, but they were taken back by the pursuers sent by the cult, which led to the cat school having to explore new mutation means on its own in the future.
the school of the Griffin
is different from other schools in naming animals corresponding to their own styles. The Griffin school is actually named because of its spiritual mentor Griffin (meaning Griffin), who is famous for his noble character, so this school is the group of hunters who pay the most attention to personal cultivation and advocate chivalry (so that some people think that the Griffin school is the orthodoxy of the order of hunters).
During the period when the cult declined and everyone left, the pioneers of Griffin School left with a few like-minded companions to set up their own castle in Kyle Sai Ren in order not to let the noble original intention of the cult die.
School of the Bear
The pioneers of the Bear School are a group of people who are particularly indifferent and lack feelings. They think that the meaning of the existence of hunters is just to get money to do things (some people think that the sudden trial deprived them of their feelings), so in the early days of the establishment of the cult, these people seem to be particularly out of place with their fellow hunters who pay attention to honor.
When the cult began to weaken, the contradiction between these people and other hunters became more and more acute, and even developed into an armed conflict in the later period. After losing the battle, they came to Heinkavich to build a fortress and continue to perform the duties of hunters according to their own wishes.
school of the viper
the school of the viper can actually be regarded as a branch of the bear school, and Ivar Evil-Eye, the pioneer of the school of the viper when the cult split, was originally a member of the bear school. However, the conflict of ideas made Iva Evil Eye lead his men to break away from the Bear School, and established this independent hunter-gatherer school in the Gusvid fortress in the Tyre-Tosha mountains.
School of the Manti Core
There is very little information about the school. They have never appeared in the original book. It is only mentioned in the tabletop game Wizard: Old World that all members of the school use machetes and round shields, which may mean that they are mainly from the East, and there is no more information about them.
