Story summary:
Chang Xiangyu, a famous Henan opera performing artist and patriotic artist, started learning art at the age of 9 and struggled hard in the old society, going through many ups and downs. Under the guidance of her predecessors, she pursued persistently, deliberately sought innovation, was inclusive, and learned from the strengths of various singers. She gradually formed a leading Chang style of singing and performing arts, and was known as the Queen of Henan Opera. But in the old society, as a female artist at the bottom of the society and a "lower class", she was bullied and humiliated by the reactionary forces of the Kuomintang. Because of this, she once jumped off a cliff to swallow gold and died in resistance.
In New China, Chang Xiangyu completely turned over, gained new life politically and artistically, and became a people's artist. Chang Xiangyu repaid her kindness. Multi-Yuan donated a fighter jet to the Chinese People’s Volunteers Air Force.
As Chang Xiangyu’s bumpy career unfolds throughout the play, a group of characters with colorful personalities and different experiences appear. In the era of national peril, they share the same boat through thick and thin, love their country and love drama, and depend on each other for life and death. It embodies the excellent cultural traditions and moral sentiments of the Chinese nation.
